Although it would seem as if Marlowe would have a bad case of PTSD, I can tell you otherwise. As much as Marlowe went through, he seemed to have overcome everything that he experienced. One thing after another he managed to stay sane. You can not say the same for many of people in this book.
One of the symptoms of PTSD is not being able to talk about the stress you are going through or the situation that made you get PTSD. Marlowe does quite the opposite. In the heart of darkness he is telling his story the whole time, and he does not seem to have a problem doing it either. Marlowe simply says everything he did and everything that happened with no hesitations. Not once does he decide to take a break from all the horrid things he went through.

...Agoraphobia as defined by the APA Dictionary of Psychology is literally the fear of the market place. Agoraphobia is manifested as anxiety about being in places or situations, fearing one may have panic symptoms or a panic attack, throwing up or having diarrhea in public. This phobia is often passed along in families. It can also occur if a person grows up with an overprotective parent or a parent that is a perfectionist. According to the Mayo Clinic, between 1 and 5 percent of people in the United States develop agoraphobia in their lifetime.
