Christopher Maurice Brown was born May 5, 1989, in Tappahannock, Virginia. Brown is known for his incredible voice, dance moves, and charming looks. He grew up in a small town of roughly 2,000 people. Growing up, Brown sung in his church choir and was inspired by artists such as Sam Cooke, Stevie Wonder, and Michael Jackson. In addition, he often imitated his dance moves from one of his many idols, Usher Raymond. Brown was discovered by Tina Davis, who worked for Dej Jam Recordings at the time. When Davis first heard Brown she said he had a unique voice and that he would be a star. Shortly thereafter, Davis became Browns manager and helped him land a deal with Jive Records. At the time of the deal Brown was only 15 years old. In 2005, Brown self-titled album was released and hit the charts. He had the privilege of performing with two R&B legends, Lionel Richie and Smokey Robinson. In addition, he got to meet his idol Michael Jackson and do a tribute in his honor. Brown has written, produced, and directed over sixty-four music videos. A great deal, of Brown’s video directed by him compared to that of Michael Jackson style. To illustrate, Brown’s song “Fine China” compared to Michael Jacksons “You Rock My World Video”. Both videos depicted a male lead with their entourage fighting for the attention of a beautiful woman. Many of the other videos written and directed by Brown like “Show Me” and “Love More” were upbeat videos where Brown and friends are partying and enjoying the company of young women.
