Chronic Traumatic Enaphalopathy (CTE) is a progressive degenerative disease where brain tissue is damaged by a specific protein called tau (McKee). Research has indicated that athletes, such as football players and boxers, are most prone to this disease due to repetitive concussions, countless blows to the head, and previous head trauma. The brain degeneration is associated with several pathological symptoms including chronic headaches, memory loss, confusion, anxiety attacks, lack of sleep, impaired judgment, impulse control problems, difficulty planning and carrying out tasks, and eventually progressive dementia (McKee). Behavioral symptoms include aggression, emotional instability, and suicidal thoughts and behavior. (Mayo Clinic). I
