July 2010 i PREFACE
This guide is published by the Canadian Performance Reporting Board (CPRB) of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. Its purpose is to provide a perspective for users of external financial reports on matters arising from Canada’s imminent change in accounting standards for public companies. Members of audit committees and preparers may also find this guide a useful reference. For fiscal years commencing in 2011 and thereafter, Canadian GAAP for most public companies will transition to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs). These global accounting standards should improve international financial reporting comparability in an increasingly global business environment. The conversion to IFRSs will potentially result in a myriad of changes in an entity’s financial statements, and, therefore, its performance metrics. In some cases these changes will have no material consequences. In others, however, the changeover will have a material impact on the majority of commonly used performance metrics. Users of financial reports need to be able to distinguish reported performance changes caused by the transition to IFRSs from those caused by changes in the business. While an entity’s first IFRS reports will be accompanied by extensive reconciliations to old Canadian GAAP, they will generally provide reconciliations of amounts rather

...www.Grammarly.com/Grammar_Check Who Uses Each Format MLA style was created by the Modern Language Association and is used primarily for writings about language and literature and is the go-to style for those studying or working in the humanities. APA style is intended to clarify and strengthen scientific writing. Organized by the American Psychological Association, APA style is used most often by those in the social science fields. Format The difference between a paper written in MLA style and one written in APA style should be apparent to a reader almost immediately. A paper written in APA style will always have a title page, while those written in MLA style will only have a title page if it has been specifically requested. APA style also requires the inclusion of an abstract, a brief summary of the paper, while MLA does not. The main body of documents written in the two formats will look very similar, but they diverge again later on. In an MLA paper, the full list of references will be found on the "Works Cited" page at the back of the document. APA documents, on the other hand, will include a "References" page at the end. Citations While both styles require clear and detailed attribution of sources, referred to as citations, MLA and APA styles require a slightly different presentation of that data. In-text or parenthetical citations are brief references directing the reader to the full source list appended to the end of the paper. In MLA style, in-text citations will...

Processing Information

...One of the many factors that make us unique as individuals is the way we interrupt and process information. Daily we absorb information through reading, conversations and social media, Sometimes we subconsciously take ownership of others ideas; allowing what we take in to influence our thoughts and actions. Ultimately, this can lead to poor habits such as lying when it comes to being responsible for our actions. As college students, we are expected to challenge ourselves by writing good scholarly papers. Collecting our thoughts about our research and putting them on paper is easy for some but difficult for others. While researching, we can take notes and reflect on them; this can help with the content and flow in our papers (Kirszner & Stephen, 2012). Our papers should capture the reader’s attention by explaining our thesis statement and providing adequate explanations that supports our findings. Papers can be formatted and written in various ways; the most common forms of writing are APA and MLA. Some colleges may require MLA style (Modern Language Association); which is used for humanities such as arts, literature, and history. On the other hand, other colleges may require their students to write their papers in APA style. APA means American Psychological Association. It was designed by anthropologist, business managers, and psychologists as a way of arranging the components of writing and reading (Kirszner & Stephen, 2012). The APA format consist of the body, in-text...

(2) In this article Trevor et al. review the influences of pay and job opportunities in respect to job performance, turnover rates and employee motivation.(3) The authors use data gained through organisational surveys of blue-chip companies in Vancouver, Canada to try to identify the main causes of employee turnover and whether it is linked to salary growth.(4) Their research focuses on assessing a range of pay structures such as pay for performance and organisational reward schemes.(5) The article is useful to my research topic, as Trevor et al. suggest that there are numerous reasons for employee turnover and variances in employee motivation and performance.(6) The main limitation of the article is that the survey sample was restricted to mid-level management,(7) thus the authors indicate that further, more extensive, research needs to be undertaken to develop a more in-depth understanding of employee turnover and job performance.(8) This article will not form the basis of my research;...

Joel Robuchon

...Joel Robuchon When you think about or read about the past 40 years of French culinary history there’s a few names that flood the search pages with information such as Ducasse, Haeberlin and Robuchon. One thing that stands out when these three names are looked at is that they have all earned through hard work and very long hours three Michelin stars and deservingly so. With there yearning to offer the best and most delicate dishes these chefs strive to conquer the culinary word. I will be focusing on Paul Robuchon and all that he has achived for almost 50 years. What if Chef Robuchon would never had pursued the culinary field? His original plan had not been of the long hours of a culinary professional but was to study at a seminary. He started to help the nuns out in the kitchen where he found his true calling. It was 1960 when he was only 15; he decided that from the seminary he would go to work as an apprentice at hotel-restaurant Relais de Poitiers. That’s where it all started. “He stayed at the Relais de Poitiers for three years and then became a Compagnon du Tour de France. This was essentially an apprenticeship which moved him around France. Working with different chefs enabled him to learn a vast variety of techniques and gain experience with regional ingredients. If an apprenticeship program like that were in existence in America today, a young chef could sharpen his skills with the likes of Eric Ripert , Jose Andres, Grant Achatz and Alice Waters. What a way to learn...
