Problem

You have an idea for a restaurant tip calculator app that you want to develop for use on your mobile phone when you go out to eat. You can enter the amount of the check before taxes, the tax rate, and the tip percentage. It should display the amount before taxes, the dollar amount of the taxes, the dollar amount of the tip (calculated on amount before taxes), and the total amount including taxes and tip.

(1) Variable List With Data Type
List all the variables you will use (use valid variable names). Indicate whether the data type is string, integer, or decimal, and so on.

(2) IPO Model
List the inputs, any processes, calculations, and outputs. Use the same valid variable names you used in Step 1.

Inputs | Process (calculations) | Outputs | | | |

-------------------------------------------------
Hints: (1) While it is true that some additional string literal messages (those that don’t incorporate variables into the expression) are outputs of the program, you instructor does not require these to be listed in the Outputs of the IPO table. It would not be “wrong” to do so, but these are not usually helpful as a design document. A programmer looking at the IPO table will primarily be concerned with outputs that

Cis 115 Week 3 Exercise Solution

...Week 3 Activity—Calculate Overtime Pay ------------------------------------------------- TCO 3—Given a simple problem, design and desk-check a solution algorithm requiring a modular design that is expressed in terms of pseudocode or program notes, input-process-output (IPO) analysis, and flow chart. ------------------------------------------------- TCO 4—Given a simple problem that requires one or more decisions, create a working solution that uses decisions with logical and relational expressions. ------------------------------------------------- TCO 8—Given a more complex problem, develop a complete solution that includes a comprehensive statement of the problem, complete program design, and program documentation. ------------------------------------------------- Assignment You will need to design an application that it will prompt a user for his or her hourly pay rate, his or her hours worked, and whether he or she is single, married, divorced, or widowed. It will then calculate his or her gross and net pay. If the user works more than 40 hours, overtime is calculated at 1 ½ times the regular rate and displayed separately. If he or she is married, use a flat tax rate of 15%. If he or she is single, use 22%; if he or she is divorced, use 23%; and if he or she is widowed, use 13% (I realize that these are not very realistic). Below is a sample of what the program should do when run. (No overtime example) Enter hourly pay rate: 10.00 Enter hours worked: 35 ...

...he problem with Compaq is that they developed too much IT architecture using financial advisory, where R&D and openness keys to development and the culture, while ignoring the environment. Open communication and trust was barricaded and destroyed by ASK (financial IS). The workers were being motivated by fear, much like Geneen in Morgan’s Images Of Organization. From an IT architecture standpoint, numbers based on the finance division depicted the entire company, even the organizational structure. The organizational structure did not align with the IT architecture, and the culture did not align with it either. Morgan stated, “The division of labor characteristic of industrial societies creates a problem of integration, or what may be more accurately described as a problem of integration, or what may be more accurately described as a problem of “cultural management.”” Compaq started as a functional structure, changed into a divisional fairly soon and then back to functional. Culture was strongly emphasized over anything else. CASH stated, “The process encompassed a whole range of ideas, including (1) the rule of inclusion, (2) teamwork, (3) “working the issue,” and (4) consensus building.” The IS system at Compaq did allow the free-flow of information through email named “B-mail.” ASK was used for financial services so that the company could easily track orders, and know where it stood financially. The culture felt monitored by ASK operators since it “becomes responsible for...

Petroleum

...Global Business and Economics Research Journal ISSN: 2302-4593 Vol. 2 (5): 102 - 115 The impact of petroleum on economic growth in Nigeria Michael Baghebo Niger Delta University, Bayelsa State, Nigeria baghebomichael@yahoo.com Timothy Okule Atima Niger Delta University, Bayelsa State, Nigeria Abstract The study examines the impact of petroleum on economic growth of the Nigerian economy. Data covering the period 1980-2011 was collected from the Central Bank of Nigeria Statistical Bulletin, and transparency international Agency annual publications and analyzed using econometric approach. The stationary status of the time series data was examined using Augmented Dickey Fuller test. The regressand is Real Gross Domestic Product (RGDP), The regressors are Foreign direct investment (FDI), Oil revenue (OIL), Corruption index (CI), External debt (EXDEBT). The series attained stationary after differencing. The Johansen cointegration test was conducted to ascertain the long run equilibrium condition of the variables in the model. The variables were cointegrated because four cointegrating equations were found. The Parsimonous model was established to account for the short run dynamic adjustments required for stable long run equilibrium. It was discovered that the variables: oil revenue and corruption index impacts negatively on Real GDP, while FDI and EXDEBT have positive impact on the growth of the economy. This means that the resource curse theory is proven to be true in Nigeria. The...

SRF loan amount = $2,500,000 • Water saving (green) portion of loan = 100% • Annual water savings = 115 million gallons ( MG ) • Background The water distribution system has approximately 80 miles of CI and DI distribution pipe ranging from 6 to 16 inches • in diameter. The water system is 100% metered and includes a master meter (or production meter) at the source water supply (after treatment). As par t of a water loss management plan, • 1 the water utility calibrates all water meters every 5 years and conducts a leak detection survey every 2 years. Over the past 5 years the utility performed a physical condition assessment of 1% of the distribution pipes. The pipes were selected for assessment based on historic leak detection survey data. Based on the assessment of 1% of the pipe, the utility concluded that the pre-1930s distribution pipe is in the o poorest condition, has incurred the most leaks, and is most critical to replace. Pre-1930s pipe accounts for 17% (13.6 miles) of the 80 miles of distribution pipe. This project will replace...

Air Pollution in the Manila

...Abstract Exposure to high levels of air pollution can cause a variety of adverse health outcomes. Air quality in developed countries has been generally improved over the last three decades. However, many recent epidemiological studies have consistently shown positive associations between low-level exposure to air pollution and health outcomes. Thus, adverse health effects of air pollution, even at relatively low levels, remain a public concern. This paper aims to provide an overview of recent research development and contemporary methodological challenges in this field and to identify future research directions for air pollution epidemiological studies. Introduction It is well known that exposure to high levels of air pollution can adversely affect human health. A number of air pollution catastrophes occurred in industrial countries between 1950s and 1970s, such as the London smog of 1952 [1]. Air quality in western countries has significantly improved since the 1970s. However, adverse health effects of exposure to relatively low level of air pollution remain a public concern, motivated largely by a number of recent epidemiological studies that have shown the positive associations between air pollution and health outcomes using sophisticated time-series and other designs [2]. This review highlights the key findings from major epidemiological study designs (including time-series, case-crossover, panel, cohort, and birth outcome studies) in estimating the associations of exposure...
