Selection of the Civic Project
For my civic project I chose to assist in building houses for Habitat for Humanity. I have been volunteering for Habitat for Humanity for about eight years now. Originally I volunteered through school when I was attending college at Ohio State University, ever since then I have devoted at least a couple days a year building houses for different families. I enjoy volunteering for habitat because over the years I have become very handy when it comes to home projects and it’s my way of giving back to families that are doing everything they can to make it in this world.
There is a very extensive selection process for the families that end up purchasing these homes with a zero percent interest mortgage and then once a family has been selected they have to put in 350+ hours of sweat equity into their home or other families homes. This is a great opportunity to meet the people that you are helping and get to know them on a personal basis. I think this is one of the best parts of volunteering with Habitat because you are helping to give someone shelter for them and their kids but you get to do it right next to them, many times the flood of emotions these families have can be overwhelming and it makes what you are doing that much more meaningful.
I think this project is very important to the community because not only is Habitat for Humanity helping to get low-income families out of substandard overcrowded rental housing but they are assisting in revitalizing neighborhoods as well.
Civic Project Objective
#2 Today all too often I think we find ourselves not actively trying to help our neighbor and I am guilty of this too. I think that many times we feel like since we are forced to pay our taxes and pay into different funds that help people why should we do any more than this. This country was originally founded on principles are quite

Civics - Final Project

...Name Instructor Course Date Civics - Final Project Summary An Amendment calling for mandatory military service after high school graduation should be passed to help all students be successful upon graduation. Military services should be allowed to recruit in high schools which would give high risk students an opportunity to be successful. Besides, it offers students who will not attend college a way to gain skills as well as provide an opportunity for low-income students a way to pay for college. If the government does not allow military services to help educate students about their options after graduation, it will be doing an injustice to the future generations leaving a child left behind. Make a difference in the future and someone’s life and allow the military services to recruit in high schools. There are many benefits that people take for granted daily that many would do not worry about in the military. Health care is not a topic many 18-year-olds think about because the majority are still covered by their parents to the age of 21 and sometimes further than that with the right plan (Simon and Lovrich 372). Enrolling in the military service is a feasible option to earn money, gain technical skills and training as well as leadership skill that will assist one for the rest of his or her life. One of the difficulties in getting a job fresh out of college is lack of experience consistent with the working knowledge in their field. After the compulsory military service...

Today, most people aren’t able to function without their phones. Whatever you personal preference is your mobile phone can do it. Mobile companies are in a constant battle to offer more services for less and the phone are getting smaller, faster, and better quality. These services are a strong competitor for land line companies. In fact, most people don’t have a land-line phone. More and more drivers are becoming distracted on the road, be it the radio, other motorist, or children. As mobile phones become more common people are questioning how to deal with this distraction and does it pose the same danger as drunk driving? In 1908 the first wireless telephone was released as a “cave radio”. By 1910, Lars Magnus Ericsson installed a mobile phone in his car, this was not a radio telephone. 1926 first class passenger trains in Europe first used radio telephones. In the 1950's the first generation of mobile phones were introduced. Hand held phones have been available since 1973. Mobile phone were very expensive, large, had poor quality, and was used mostly as a status symbol then a tool. During the 1980's mobile phones were advanced to the 1G network featuring international roaming. The second generation mobile phone in the 1990's known as the 2G network, allowed mobile phone to send and receive...

...1998 Acura Integra GS-R: A Review Jesse Ezell The 1998 Acura Integra GS-R or Grand Sport Racing is a premium trim level for the 3rd generation of Acura Integra, a luxury sports car. The transmission and steering are both tight but forgiving making this car a joy to drive. These facts mixed with the outstanding handling this car gets in corners and at higher speeds makes this car what I can only describe and a genuine pleasure to drive. Alongside of all the positive things I like about this car there are other things that are not as good about it. The car runs Premium fuel only and at a 26 mpg combined your...
