How the structural engineer actually work Structural engineering is one of the branch in Civil engineering which attract me a lot compares with others. tructural engineers design, create, solve problems, innovate and use maths and science to shape the world. The structures they create are used by all of us every day; from houses, theatres, sports stadia and hospitals, to bridges, oil rigs and space satellites.Structural engineers are involved at every stage of a structure’s realisation and they play a key part in design and construction teams. Working with architects, and alongside other professions, structural engineers create conceptual designs and ensure that the structure can be built and is stable and durable. A career in structural engineering involves team working, creative problem solving and practical skills such as sketching and drawing, and using computer to create structures and specifications for contractors. Structural engineers can specialise in a range of ascinating areas including conservation, sustainability, seismic or humanitarian engineering. As my personal analysis, Structural engineer is a career that require the design skill , observe skill and responsibility. Structural engineer also require the initiative and positive, strong logical thinking ability and

Civil Engineering Purpose Statement

...STATEMENT OF PURPOSE Thanks to the ‘Big, Bigger, Biggest’ on the National Geographic Channel who keeps me realizing that ‘An Extraordinary Engineering is a Predictable.’ I have been astonished every time I see it. Seeing the manner in which the Tall Buildings, Dams, Bridges are built and various processes involved instilled a desire in me to be part of the whole process. This coupled with a natural flair for science and mathematics motivated me to take up engineering in college. The reason I took up Civil Engineering was not only I had a passion for structures which are the biggest, tallest, longest, or deepest in the world; but also I wanted to make a difference and shape the built environment. At Silver Oak college of Engineering and Technology, studying subjects like Building and Town planning, Structural analysis, Advanced Construction Technology, Professional Practice and Valuation gave me a clear vision of what is needed to be done. When our college curriculum lacked, I pursued additional courses and seminars on my own. Each passing day brought in more opportunities to learn and stretch my capacity to work and also it involves lot of field work, unlike other fields where monotony governs in working environment. Nowadays, minimum cost and maximum value and to pursue perfection in the execution of a construction project...

Level of Awareness of Second Year Civil Engineering Students Towards Civil Engineering Course in Southern Luzon State University Lucban, Quezon

...Level of Awareness of Second Year Civil Engineering Students Towards Civil Engineering Course in Southern Luzon State University Lucban, Quezon INTRODUCTION Within the context of the society of people, people are up to survival. The reason that Herbert Spencer’s coined the word “Survival of the Fittest”. He proposed the theory that societies adapt to their surroundings in order to compete and survive difficulties in life. Through education these difficulties lessen, unlike without the latter cause. According to Lardizabal (1988), education is the change for the better. The goal of education is to change man to be better mentally, physically, socially, morally, and spiritually. With the aid of education people are to be treated rationalized individuals. They can do things that an ordinary man can’t do through education. Having these goals of education, the only difficulty with regards to this innovation is making of decision in entering this development. On other hand, decision making is a task wherein the person must select one option from a number of alternatives, there is game amount of information available with respect to the option, the time frame is relatively longer, and the choice is associated with uncertainty, that is, it is not necessary clear which is the best option (Wickens, Lee, Liu, and Godon Becker, 2004). Choosing a course is an example of decision making. The chooser, the student, is subject to select which one will be in line with their expertise. Prior...

Analysis on the Decreasing Number of Graduating Civil Engineering Students in Southern Luzon State University

...students think of courses that will provide a highest educational attainment. Some students chose courses that will make them most popular and most superior among others. Not knowing that it was a big mistake. Over the years, this kind of system is not prevented instead it is overspreading among the students especially Civil Engineering students. Some students taking BSCE in SLSU were not totally convinced in choosing this course. Some of those enrolled in this course are just following their parents’ want. Some are just want to follow their grandfather’s, grandmother’s, father’s, mother’s, or even neighbor’s steps. Some just copied courses from their classmates just like copying a seatmate’s answer in a quiz. Students do this knowing that this should be thought deeply for this will lead them towards a bright future. Hossler, Braxton, and Coopersmith (1989), stated that College choice is defined as a complex, multistage process during which an individual develops aspirations to continue formal education beyond high school, followed later by a decision to attend a specific college, university or institution of advanced vocational training. However, taking Civil Engineering course is not easy one. You need to be a student that will not surrender in all challenges you will face in this course. Having a study habit will help the student to finish this course. If student chooses this course, stand for it no matter what difficulties will come. Students have a lot of time to think for what...
