Both effective and verbal communication along with spoken communication is dependant on factors such as non verbal communication, clarification and listening skills. Clarity of speech, being focused, staying cool, calm and collective and remaining polite will definitely help the process of oral/verbal communication. Clarification involves going back to the speaker and asking questions to make sure what they mentioned or stated is well understood. By doing this, the listener is making sure that the information mentioned is accurate and correct. This help alleviate any misunderstandings and confusion that may occur later on. Clarification also allows the listener the opportunity to see what the speaker wants to be prioritized. It may even show or demonstrate to the speaker that the listener is taking interest in what they have to save. For the most part, when the listener is clarifying any information from their speaker, they should try and refrain from using non-verbal judgmental questions and summarize feedback to the speaker to demonstrate they understand. Providing feedback shows the speaker that want to confirm all accuracies. Listening skills allow both the speaker and listener the opportunity to receive information in the process of communication accurately. Listening is the key to being an effective communicator. Without listening skills, messages can be easily misunderstood. Messages that are misunderstood can lead to communication downfalls, leaving the sender of relaying the message or messages frustrated, confused and annoyed. Due to the importance of being a good listener, employees in the criminal justice field are sometimes required and mandated to take yearly training. For example, in my department New York 2 City Division of Youth and Family Justice, my organization mandates that staff take yearly

Specialized databases have a negative and positive impact to the criminal justice arena. Two very popular systems being used in today in law enforcement are Iris Scanning and Mobile Data Terminals (MDT). Iris scanning is a rapidly advancing technology being deployed in law enforcement, military surveillance, immigration enforcement, retail shopping, and prison release programs (Privacy SOS Sunlight on Surveillance, 2011).
