Claire Hindman, Westfield Volleyball Player
Senior Claire Hindman is a Libero for Westfield High School’s volleyball team.
She grew up watching her sisters play college volleyball and fell in love with the intensity of the sport. She’s been playing for 10 years now.
“My favorite part is probably when I get an amazing dig or up that no one thought I could get,” Hindman said. “The reaction that I get from my teammates afterwards is one of the best feelings ever.”
However, she hasn’t always been a libero. “I used to be a hitter,” she said. “But I wasn't tall enough to be a hitter at the level I wanted to play at so I decided to be a back row player.”
Hindman claims that being a libero has exposed her to a new aspect of volleyball.

“In school ball, you practice six times a week and have about two or three games a week with a few tournaments. Compared to club where I practice three times a week and have tournaments almost every weekend with about six games in two days,” she said.
With her participation in both club and school volleyball, Hindman has found to love the two equally.
“Club is amazing because you get so close to your team because you are with them for about seven months, but school ball is also great because you get to represent your school and play all of your rivals year after year.”
Hindman has little to dislike about the sport besides the physical toll on her body and the time commitment. She finds inspiration all around her, fueling her passion for the game even more.
“When I see someone working so hard simply because they want to get better for themselves and their teammates, that really motivates me,” she said. “No matter what sport they play.”
Hindman decided this year to continue her volleyball career for the next four years at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee. She didn’t decide on Trevecca right away, but after a tour of the campus, she was
