In the city of Des Moines which is located in the state of Iowa, Clare Barcus presented a speech titled “Don’t Try and Triumph”. That speech was published on the 21st of August on a profoundly well-known platform known as TEDx. The speech delivered spoke of approaching obstacles in a different and creative way. She believes that we should not get over our obstacles but rather transform them. Clare talked about her life story on how she suffered from stuttering as a result from messing up at an audition for a play. Her story goes as so, She auditioned for a play at a community theatre because she simply loved being on stage and that she was experienced in that field. The ending to that story was heartbreaking to say the least. She ended up stuttering…show more content… The stuttering affected her life drastically and she saw it as a personal obstacle. But as she progressed in life, she realized that she should not try to get rid of this problem, but instead she needed to embrace it, live with it and most importantly, getting rid of the fear of it. That eventually caused her to be able to manage her stuttering problem. She took her own life example and applied it to other obstacles people might have such as writing with your left hand or stage fright. I find the resolution that Clare had on her situation to be quite interesting. The message she was trying to give off has the potential to affect the lives of many people, especially those who struggle with personal struggles in their lives. Clare portrays to be a highly persistent and determined figure through her words and ways of tackling life’s problems. She could have handled her issue of stuttering in various ways. She could have decided to become anti-social and block herself from the world, which is never a healthy way of dealing with your problems. It seems as though it is the easiest way out since it doesn’t lead to people hurting her not physically but emotionally. Isolation might seem to be comforting, but being left alone with your own thoughts can be dangerous. It could lead you to think cynically about different matters and it could develop a sense of hate inside that person. What I mean by this is that Clare could have stayed at home in her bed all day doing nothing but contemplating on how life could have been if she did not have the issue of stuttering. She would start thinking about how she was during her rehearsals, and started thinking about all the “what if’s” in the world. “What if I stayed up to rehearse my lines?” ”What if I never started performing?”. She might have even taken a step further and starts blaming other people. “Oh
