...Journal of Business Case Studies – Second Quarter 2006 Volume 2, Number 2 Case Studies In Marketing Research Donald K. Hsu, (Email: yanyou@hotmail.com), Dominican College ABSTRACT The use of case studies for Marketing Research has been examined. Starting with a topic selection, students collected the background information from various sources. A focus group was conducted to gather detailed information. A questionnaire was designed for an in-depth survey of the general public. Using mall intercept, 100 or more convenient samples were collected from the questionnaire. SPSS software was used to analyze this data. Then a final report with possible recommendations was written. During the course of this research, students made face-to-face interview with senior managers or CEO, selected appropriate Harvard Business School cases, did research using Internet or library resources, and added much real-life learning to the theoretical in-class knowledge. INTRODUCTION V ase studies in Marketing Research have attracted much interest for global researchers. During the last two years, participants at the European Applied Business Research Conference presented findings in marketing related topics: 56 papers in 2003 and 25 papers in 2004. Out of the 81 papers, 24 reported work on marketing research. Cho and Ha (2004) measured consumer behavior by surveying 300 people on two brand names, Chow et al (2003) studied the environment friendly (eco-label) issues on the...

...weeks. Having such a compressed time schedule for completing degrees will make it possible to complete my bachelor of science in business management in 2 years as long as I do not deviate from the program. I have decided that my number one priority in life is to complete my degree. I do not have other major commitments outside of work that will distract me from my assignments so staying focused on school will be realistic. Though I cannot predict the future, I do not plan on taking any time off during the two years that would result in interrupting my class schedule. With the option of taking CLEP test this will allow me to “test out” of some of the lower-division courses such as communication arts and humanities. Although this will require additional studying outside of my upper-division courses the CLEP test can help eliminate additional courses needed to be taken, so I can stay on track of my 2 year goal. Writing papers has never been my strongest asset throughout school. I always found myself only writing what was required of me but never trying to improve mywriting skills on my own time. In junior college the...

...Effects Of Social Networking Site Writing a research report The following is a general guide to writing a research report focused on GIS, spatial analysis, or modeling. See the general resources page for other guides for writing and research. This presents some standard conventions for writing journal articles but highlights where you may want to make changes for a class report or thesis. Journal article. The 'standard' format used by most journals is a bit restrictive because it reflects traditional publishing practices. Figures and tables, for example, are usually attached as separate pages at the end of your text instead of being embedded in the text itself because it is easier to photograph them for publishing and the text itself is easier to typeset. Class report. Class reports are less restrictive in form and content than journal articles but they still share many characteristics. Conventions such as line double spacing and use of 12 point serif fonts like Times New Roman are designed to make it easier for your reader to review the paper and provide annotations where necessary. Take special notice of the "Top 10 Checklist" as these are items that are particularly important for class reports. Quick Links: Report structure General Considerations Top 10 Checklist References Report Structure The paper should be divided into sections that make the logical sequence of the argument clear. Common sections are described below. Treat these as what they are...

...Comparative Religions Research Assignment Purpose: This year we will only have time to examine and explore 7 of the world’s most common religions. We will not have time to explore some of the smaller, and sometimes more unusual beliefs and practices held by people around the world. This assignment will enable students to research and explore a religion not covered in the class. This project, along with 2 in-progress project checks, count as 15% of your final grade. Process: Students will work in groups of 4 students to create a presentation of the religion they choose to research. Due to time constraints in the semester, no more than 8 religions will be presented which means that EACH group must have 4 members. This presentation must include a power-point presentation and a script elaborating on each slide (PowerPoint presentations must be at least 10 slides long with graphics). The script must be properly cited and must include a properly cited bibliography. Student presentations are expected to cover the seven dimensions of religion (experiential, mythic, ritual, doctrinal, ethical, social, and material as explained in class and pages 15-17 of your textbook) as well as other interesting nuances about their selected religion. Students are only allowed to research a religion that is not being covered by any other group. Students will also turn in a list of key terms, concepts, and people along with their role in the religion (aka. a definition). An...

The changes in marriage, divorce, and fertility rates since the 1960s have been inextricably linked with changes in attitudes towards work and, in particular, with changes in women's work patterns both in and out of the household. In that same time period, economists have come to realize that standard economic theory can be applied to many aspects of family life including marriage, fertility, divorce, and the division of work and leisure within the household. In this course we will use economic theory, both neo-classical and feminist, to explore how gender differences lead to different economic outcomes for men and women, both within families and in the marketplace. Course Prerequisite: Economics 119, Principles of Economics, is a necessary prerequisite, since we will make use of concepts, vocabulary, analytical skills and other tools developed in the Principles course. ...Packages Limited, negotiated the setting up of a packaging plant in Lahore with the collaboration of AB Akerlund and Rausing (Sweden). Packages Ltd. is one of the most famous and successful companies in packaging industry. It is situated at the south side of Lahore city in the industrial area., Packages emerged as a company geared to provide solutions. Sprawled over 105 acres, Packages is a dynamic example of cross-functional integration of various processes. Initially, Packages helped the consumer industry by providing packaging solutions in the form of cartons for cigarette, tea, confectionery, pharmaceutical and soap industries. However, supply of paper and board by local mills did not meet the quality requirements of the customers. As a result, in 1965 backward integration became a necessity to sustain quality output when a Paper and Board mill was put up. This happened because of strong belief in self-sufficiency and quality product development as an inherent part of the process. It is sole largest company, which is serving the 35% need of a county in its category. Today, Packages Ltd. is considered among the leading, fully integrated packaging complexes in Asia.. It was the dream of Syed Baber Ali to set up in Pakistan an industry based on local raw materials and talent. In July* Mr. Syed Mratib Ali Shah laid the cornerstone on 26th of March 1956. The construction was started from the Solid Board Department and by the end of October, 1956 the main shed of the factory was...

...rational manner and everyone maximizes their respective utilities in the same manner then overall the utility is diminished below the original level, or rather the level of a single individual working on the same problem. The Application of the Model: School Projects The Team Work Production function is extremely relevant to students at Cornell University who are often subjected to work on group projects, or study together, or collaborate in any way large or small on differing topics. For the purpose of this paper I will apply the model to a group project in another PAM class. The assignment was to write a 20-page policy paper with four other students over the course of a semester and to formulate a plan that provided solvency to the problem and utilized original research. The group immediately divided the 20-page paper in an egalitarian manner doling out 5 pages each on subtopics however each section of 5 pages was dependent on the section preceding it. The division of labor created a new budget constraint one that reduced work and increased leisure. However as all members of the group realized the same increase in leisure each member had a greater opportunity cost in doing the work early and as such was incentivized to consume more leisure. This problem compounded overtime resulting in a complete system collapse. In the end everyone was made worse off as the semester drew towards a close because in the end each individual had failed to do his or her part and the final product...

...reorganization task force comprising the heads of employee relations and organizational development, the company’s chief labor attorney, and two key divisional HR directors. Looking to cut costs across the company, the company’s newly appointed CEO had asked Hartley to come up with at least two potential new HR structures that would reduce the function’s costs by 20%, or $2.8 million. But there were other equally pressing reasons for the reorganization. Number one was to ensure top-level accountability for talent management and upgrading. The second reason was to provide for a more even distribution of HR talent and support, particularly to the company’s smaller growth divisions. Finally, HR needed to lead the way in supporting the company’s new growth strategy, which often meant working across division lines to market and sell “solutions” to a single large customer. Since her arrival in 1995, Hartley had helped transform Sonoco’s HR organization by...
