...of communication amongst the health care professionals and how a good nursing documentation is an integral part of nursing. It will also demonstrate how reflection enabled me to make sense of and learn from this experience, as well as identify any further learning developments needed to improve my practice and achieve the level of competency needed for when I qualify as an assistant practitioner. While discussing the knowledge underpinning practice, evidence based literature will be reviewed to support my discussion and for the purpose of reflection the essay will be written in the first person. Spouse, J, et al (2008). Jonhs, C (2009) defined reflection as learning through our every day experiences, towards realising one’s vision of desirable practice as a lived reality. He also added that it is a critical and a flexible process of self inquiry and transformation of being and becoming the practitioner you desire to be. However, Ghaye, T et al. (2000) stated that for the health care professionals to develop a more reflective posture, they must fully embrace both the principles and the practices of reflection. It is about becoming more aware of how we learn and how this affects what we think, feel and do. There are different models for reflection; some are more complex and detailed than others. To help me with my reflection, I have chosen Gibbs (1988) reflective cycle as a guide: The names of the patient, staff members and health care setting will be changed to protect...

...Entering the classroom the next Monday, I had arrived later than usual so I stayed for the class following the Honors English class. Both classes had served, essentially, as a study period for the two English classes that day. Overall The teacher works with three different levels of English--honors, regular, and what the teacher calls “the strugglers”. During the honors class, the majority of the class is composed of White children with above average skill in verbal and essay based communications. The honors class is usually who I work with during the rest of the semester. She comments the most that: “even though you all are my honors class, you are my most talkative students.” After seeing the other two classes, I would argue that this is untrue....

...On week 7 clinical class, we learned about the injections and the blood glucose level measurement. Originally my image of a nurse was someone who gave needles. After watching the demonstration by clinical tutor, I quickly gathered the equipment and practiced on an artificial skin surface. It looked pretty easy when others uncapping the syringe. However, for me, it was not that easy when I first tried. It was just too tight to get it off gently considering the hazard of the syringe. After a few attempts, I managed to uncap it though. When I started to inject, I did not pull the syringe deep enough, which was pointed out by my peer. That was one thing I needed to be careful of next time. When taking the blood glucose level, the tutor reminded us that it was better to take the blood at the side of the finger. But the next day when I discussed the site with my friend, she insisted that she was told to take the blood in the centre of the finger. That confused me. So I decided to ask my tutor. After raising my inquiry, my tutor suggested that I conduct some research for answers. Then I started to research online. The conclusion was it was better to take the blood at the side of the finger because there were more nerves presented in the centre of the fingers. This event reminded me that when there was a medical question, as a health professional, I should be able to find out the best relevant evidence to support my practice rather than just following others’ opinions. In this case...

...Have you ever made a small decision in the moment, and later looked back on it and realized how much of an impact it made on your life? I have. Much like Mike’s decision to join a literacy class, and eventually improving the quality of his life, mine did as well (35). My school allowed you to choose what you got to do for your last period of the day your eighth-grade year. I chose to be part of the book club that my Language Arts teacher held. We were told to pick a book to read, and then we would be given 30 minutes to read in class, which would then be followed by another 30 minutes where we would write about our reading. It didn’t matter what you read, as long as you read and then wrote about the reading. Choosing to be part of the book club was one of the best decisions I made throughout middle school....

...BC3401 Enterprise Systems Integrative Assignment/Reflection Instruction: Based on what you have gone through in this class, i.e., class presentation, SAP slides, lab exercises, discussion forums, projects, quiz, plus the 6 assigned articles on ES and 2 teaching cases on ES implementation, critically reflect on the things you have learnt about enterprise systems. Try your best to integrate the bits and pieces of the knowledge you have gathered thus far and reorganize them based on the way you see enterprise systems now. Your integrative assignment/reflection should be organized in a systematic manner. The following questions (not exhaustive) are intended to provide some pointers in structuring your thought process. You do not need to consider all these questions. * How are your initial perceptions of ES confirmed or rejected by what you have learnt? * Do you agree that ES offers a substantial competitive edge to organizations? * Do you agree with the common assertion that ES is highly rigid and inflexible, that it imposes substantial constraints on organizations? * What aspects of ES that you deem most powerful or impressive? * What aspects of ES that you find lacking or disappointing? * What do you see as the relationship between business processes and ES? * What do you see as the key challenges in selecting, implementing, and maintaining ES? * What do you believe to be the critical success factors in implementing ES? * What...

...This paper will explore the importance of personal reflection in nursing practice and how it is a fundamental skill in the field. It also looks into how personal reflection moulds a nurse though reflection on experience and development in the preforming of tasks and skills that provide the best possible patient care. The next section analyses and explains the skill of taking a blood glucose level reading; known as a BGL that was preformed during an intensive workshop. It further looks into a personal reflection of how I felt I preformed the skill. The following paragraph identifies how I know that I preformed the skill well during the intensive workshop with rationales to support my performance. The paper then goes to conclude how I know that...

...Before I took this class, I was already afraid of its difficulty. This is my first science AP class and I was anxious that I wouldn’t be able to handle it. As the year went by, I continued to still be afraid of failing, but not as much as I was before I took the class. I now know that if I complete all my tasks and study, I will do fairly well. As a junior, I feel like taking this class now is the best time for me. This course is preparing me for what college classes are like. I am also learning a lot about college applications and what to do in my senior year. The most difficult task in this class so far was the very first lab that we were assigned to do in the summer. It was hard for me because I did not like writing lab reports and I am not good at them. I also did not like working with the pill bugs. My proudest achievement in this course was when I got an 84.5 on my midterm. I studied for a long time and was in fear of how difficult it was. After I took the test, I thought I had failed. I was happy when I saw that I had passed. I think I still need to work on my studying habits. I need to study more before a test and actually read the textbook instead of skimming it for important information. I am a visual learner. I feel...

...My writing skills have improved enormously in this class. I have learned the importance of doing several drafts. Doing one draft and then changing a couple of things would then produce a poorly written paper. In this class, first you need to start with some sort of prewriting, this is a way to get all thoughts down and organize them on a piece of paper. After finishing my first draft of the first paper I thought that my paper was decent. I then received my critique and recognized that there was still a lot more work to be done. After accepting some very helpful feedback I greatly revised my paper. Every draft that I wrote this semester was greatly improved each time. I look back at my first draft I ever wrote in this class and then look at my final draft on my research paper. This is crucial evidence showing how much I have learned in this class....

...Critical Reflection is a way to review the assumptions you had before class and how this class has changed your assumptions. Another way to think of this is to look at what you are learning in three ways: Heart- Was there something that transformed the way that you feel? Hand-Is there something that you will do differently? How will you apply what you learn? Head-What did you learn tonight that you did not know before? What confirmed or challenged any beliefs or assumptions you had? There were definitely some things that transformed the way that I feel with the information I was able to gather. I gradually realized that learning about critical reflections is a way for all of us to examine assumptions about certain subjects that we are interested in. It provides a pathway so we can use the most logical reasoning that we gather out of the information while we are questioning our beliefs (Paul &Elders 2008, p.33). As we progress further along the learning process we are going to have to adapt to the curiosities and anxieties that comes with seeking and solving problems. This process will cause you to naturally evaluate the statements and arguments that you may run into as you are examining these beliefs, assumptions and opinions. I think you...

...Topic: The purpose of the Learning Journal is to encourage you to think and write about what you have read and discussed in class and how it pertains to your work. After lectures 1-3, 4-7 and 8-10 you will write one journal. In the journal, you will write an account of the key learnings that you derived from the lectures. You will endeavour to make useful connections between what was discussed in the class and your present and past experiences in your work place. You should consider working and experimenting with one or two concepts from each lecture in an effort to improve your performance or the performance of your team or the wider organisation. Format: The entries should be written in a word document in font 12, double spaced. Each entry is a dialogue between yourself and Jolyon Allen, the course lecturer, who will mark the learning journal and provide feedback for you to consider when you write the next journal. Your entries will be strictly confidential. You are expected to use some of the key concepts you discussed in the lectures. You are not expected to write in a strictly formal academic manner but your writing should be clear and well-organised. For this assignment you will not need to adhere to formal referencing systems but should acknowledge your sources. After each journal, re-read the journal and reflect on the feedback you have received from the lecturer before preparing your next journal. Journals are to be handed in hard copy at Lectures 4 and...
