Being a kindergarten teacher, teaching Jeremy to clean up his toys after playing with them is getting difficult. I wish he would automatically clean his toys when play time is over. Since the beginning of the school year this has been happening, I assume it happened at home before school started as well. The kid will get all of his toys out and play for about 30 minutes each time that's when the children will pull out their toys from labeled cabinets. After I say play time is over and they all walk back to their desk and he will leave the toys all over the floor. I know of operant conditioning, where there is a relationship between the behaviors and consequences. Maybe if I use punishments to decrease their behavior; if he doesn't clean up, and reinforcements to continue the behavior; if he does clean his toys, the child will learn faster. I also considered classical conditioning at first, but that …show more content…
There is no way the school board would allow me to come up with stimulus's training a child to respond to certain stimuli like a trained animal.
I, as a teacher, must recognize discriminative stimuli when considering the procedure of operant conditioning. Jeremy will react on cue to certain stimulus that are reinforced. Utilizing operant conditioning, the relationship between consequences and behaviors, Jeremy will soon learn to pick up his toys after play time. I assume the behavior started prior to coming into kindergarten, after being introduced to public toys in preschool. After my intervention with operant conditioning my hope is to be having Jeremy start picking up his own toys after two weeks. I decided I could choose between utilizing positive or negative punishments, where I add an object or take it away to ensure the child does not

I showed him how to write by using a finger to write in the paint. I showed him if he ran his hand over the paint (in plastic bag) it erased the number and he could write a new one.
