He was on the Continent teaching until he visited a hospital for the wounded and then decided, in September, 1915, to return to England and enlist. "I came out in order to help these boys - directly by leading them as well as an officer can; indirectly, by watching their sufferings that I may speak have they as well as a pleader can. I have done the first". His perspective on war was for the sympathy of the soldiers that lost life for their countries. He wasn’t against fighting for the country but just sympathizing for the lives lost in war. Owens’ personal say was that "My subject is war, and the pity of war. The poetry is in the pity.” A misery poem filled with repercussions was one of the published poems in the lifetime of Wilfred Owen. ...Literary Analysis In the novel Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, a plane full of English boys was attacked and crashed onto an island when trying to evacuate a nuclear war. Now the boys must learn to survive and work together. Although they began as a civilized bunch, after conflicts between group leaders Ralph and Jack, savagery starts to emerge. Golding uses the conflict between the civilizations to show how the darkness of human nature can affect even little childrens. At the beginning of the novel, Ralph, described as “the boy with fair hair”, and Piggy a whiney, intellectual chubby boy, found a conch shell which was used to call the other boys who were lost on the island to the beach. Among the boys was a choir group led by a boy named Jack. Ralph was soon elected as leader seeing as being the one who called everyone together. His parents were working class, and his dad was a tailor. He was the sixth child. As a boy, Pierre worked at a porcelain factory. He was a skilled artist by that age, because he showed his drawings around at work, and he was chosen to paint designs on the fine china at the Lévy Frères factory. His artistic talent was passed on to other places, and he ended up painting fans and religious wall hangings as well. He would visit the Louvre to go see and study the French master painters in hopes of becoming one of them one day. Two years later, he painted his most famous work, Bal du moulin de la Galette. It depicted a joyful event, with people dancing and socializing; a passing moment in time. The light bounces off the Parisian jubilee, giving the impression that this is a grand affair. Since some of the people are sliced in half on the edge of the canvas, it gives the illusion that this scene extends beyond canvas. First, the conditions of the American literary marketplace are briefly described. Second, documents pertaining to the realization in print of Villa’s stories and his book are analyzed as sites of negotiations between colonial subject (Villa) and the colonial master (his American editors and publishers). Finally, an account of how Villa was made to circulate in the Philippines after the publication of his stories and his book in the United States is given.
