... Confession time has come and he wants to get everything off his chest. That is exactly what Eminem wants to do in his hip-hop/rap song “Cleanin’ out my Closet.” In the music video, it portrays Eminem shoveling up the moist dirt and aggressively throwing it onto the ground. However, as Eminem is shoveling, the camera takes a sudden turn to where you are looking at everything from above. I first noticed the shape of a rectangle or what seems to be a grave. When first seeing the music video, I thought Eminem was burying his mother because of how much she physically abuses him, but I then thought to myself, it could be him destroying the provocative memories of his past and the hidden secrets that came with it. “Cleanin’ out my Closet” by Eminem displays the struggles of a young boy, and how he successfully overpowers them as he ages by revealing all of his hidden secrets. Growing up, Eminem moves back and forth between Detroit, Michigan, and Missouri due to his mother’s inability to keep a job (Eminem Par. 2). This constant moving and switching of schools at least twice a year are just two of the many obstacles Eminem has faced during his childhood. Being shoved into lockers and being brutally beaten in bathrooms and hallways is some of the things he remembers from his past. As he ages, Eminem writes his song “Cleanin’ out my Closet” which accuses his mother of being abusive and having addiction problems. Deborah Mathers, Eminem’s mother, sued him for 10 million dollars in 1999...

...Unit 10 Lab 1 Building a New Structure Problem Analysis Ryan 11/13/ Fiber optic cable was once reserved for high-performance needs, but today it’s turning up in all kinds of networks. If you’re familiar with copper cable, you’ll quickly discover that fiber optic cable is a completely different animal. Not only is the installation process different for fiber, but also the troubleshooting process. Fiber optic cable is also far more fragile than copper cable, so there are more potential causes of trouble. I’ll discuss common fiber optic cable problems and how to diagnose and repair them. The most common causes of fiber optic malfunctions Anyone who’s ever done network troubleshooting knows it’s a complicated process, so it’s helpful to know where to start looking for a problem. To help you make an educated guess about the cause of your network’s troubles, here are some of the most common fiber optic cable problems with their possible causes: * Broken fibers because of physical stress or excessive bending * Insufficient transmitting power * Excessive signal loss due to a cable span that’s too long * Excessive signal loss due to a contaminated connector * Excessive signal loss due to faulty splices or connectors * Excessive signal loss due to having too many splices or connectors * Faulty connection of fiber to the patch panel or in the splice tray Typically, if a connection is completely dead, it’s because of a break in the cable. ...Legislating the Family: Heterosexist Bias in Social Welfare Policy Frameworks Amy Lind University of Virginia Studies in Women and Gender Program This article addresses the effects of heterosexist bias in social welfare policy frameworks on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) individuals and families in the United States. It discusses the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act (PRWORA), the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), federal definitions of family and household, and stereotypes about LGBT individuals. It argues that poor LGBT individuals and families lack full citizen rights and access to needed social services as a result of these explicit and implicit biases. Key words: Welfare reform; family policy; civil rights; gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT); heterosexism Welfare reform is fundamentally about family policy—about promoting and privileging particular kinds of families, and about penalizing and stigmatizing others. (Cahill and Jones 2002: 1). Two pieces of legislation were passed in 1996 that set an important tone for family policy in the United States: The 1996 Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act (PRWORA), an act that expanded welfare-to-work programs throughout the country, restricted people’s access to public assistance, and crystallized the broader restructuring of public-private boundaries; and the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which defines marriage as a legal union between a man...

...Six Week Training Schedule in Hotel 1. TRAINING Training is generally defined as "change in behavior" - yet, how many trainers and managers forget that, using the term training only as applicable to "skills training"? What about the human element? What about those very same people we want to "train"? What about their individual beliefs, backgrounds, ideas, needs and aspirations? In order to achieve long-term results through training, we must broaden our vision to include people development as part of our strategic planning. Although training covers a broad range of subjects under the three main categories (skills, attitude, knowledge), using the term "training" without linking it to "development" narrows our concept of the training function and leads us to failure. When we limit our thinking, we fall into the trap of: a. Classifying people into lots and categories b. Thinking of "trainees" as robots expected to perform a job function c. Dismissing the individual characteristics of people and the roles they play d. Focusing only on "what needs to be done" without adequately preparing the trainees involved to accept and internalize what is being taught. We are dealing with human thoughts, feelings and reactions which must be given equal (if not more) attention than to the skill itself. We thus create a double-focus: people development and skills training. These two simultaneous objectives will give us the right balance and guide our...

...Recap... And all i could think of is "This is so K-drama cliché." I stretched my hands for support. But the guy had other ideas. He grabbed my waist and carried me bridal style. “Aish! Put me down.” I barked swinging my legs back and forth trying to get out of his cast iron grip. “Stop squirming…” he spoke. His voice sent a surge of chills down my spine; I looked up to see a handsome guy with soft brown eyes, chiseled jaw and long eyelashes staring back at me. my throat went dry; This guy was beyond gorgeous. “Yah! We’re here.” He spoke nudging me from my daydream. “O-oh” I replied hoisting myself as he put me down. ”Omo! Kenchana?” the cute old nurse spoke caressing my arm soothingly. I nodded my head in response. “I just need some ice for my ankle.” I said rubbing my swollen egg shaped ankle. .. Minho’s POV I walked down the corridor, observing my surroundings until some girl bumped into me sending her falling to the ground flat on her bum. I stretched my hands to help her up; she took my hands and tried to support herself up but I noticed her struggling she must have hurt her leg… so I grabbed her smooth legs and carried to the nurse’s office to get checked. She squirmed in my arms trying to make me let go. “Stop squirming” I told her looking her silky brown air. Her chocolate eyes met mine and I swore my heart stopped. She had this long hair, plump lips and rosy cheeks. When our eyes met I glanced away. I noticed we reached the nurse’s office. “Yah we’re here.” I said...

The practicum is a co-operative education which aims to achieve an effective blend of classroom study and off-campus work experience in hospitality-related industry. The goal of the practicum is to prepare the student for competent and responsible practice. A successful practicum is one that achieves that goal. The BSHMT program of the City College of Tagaytay considers the practicum training to be among the most important professional preparation activities in which BSHMT students participate. Practicum experiences are intended to allow students to synthesize, apply and refine knowledge and skills learned in their academic experiences. In addition, practicum experiences are one of the primary ways in which department faculty members can observe and evaluate the skills of the student. ...THE MEANING OF 'INDEPENDENT WOMAN'' IN MUSIC MiA MOODY Introduction Rapper Roxanne Shanté's 1989 rendition of "Independent Woman," explored relationships and admonished women not to dote on partners who do not reciprocate or to buy into the fairytale dream that a man would always take care of them. The definition of an "Independent Woman" in the Urban Dictionary, a predominantly African American written and defined Web site, is "A woman who pays her own bills, buys her own things, and does not allow a man to affect her stability or self-confidence. She supports herself on her own entirely and is proud to be able to do so." Another depiction of independence is found in Tina Portis' video clip titled the "Deception of the Independent Woman" posted to YouTube in 2010. Portis, an entrepreneur and former single mother, offers her opinion on statistics showing 42% of U.S. black women have never been married and are "independent" because they focus on achievement, often waiting too long to compete for the small number of black men who are equal in status (Johnson, 2010). In the video, she asserts that independent women do not need a pat on the back for doing what grownups are supposed to do: pay their bills, buy houses and cars, etc. She adds that independence discourages relationships as people begin to believe they can do everything alone, so they do not need a mate. Mia Moody, PhD, is a professor of journalism at Baylor University. She is the author of ...
