In the speech “We Are Not Free” by Clyde Warrior uses pathos in a dark way to explain how Native Americans felt after they had their rights and freedom taken away. “As one would know, people who feel themselves to be unworthy and feel they cannot escape this unworthiness turn to drink and crime and self-destructive acts” (Warrior 76.) Clyde acknowledges that feeling undeserving can lead to disastrous consequences. A person will rely on harmful coping mechanisms such as drinking or committing delinquent acts.
