...ideas as you apply the techniques and develop the skills you have learnt on the training workshop. You will also find it useful to refer to when completing your assignment, and importantly, it will be a record you can submit to the Assessor to support CMI accreditation and certification. As you complete your Reflective Journal, think about how you will use what you’ve written to continue to develop, analyse and evaluate your work, your performance and your progress. During post programme assessment the Assessor will ask probing questions like: “What did you discover about this?” or: “What do you think would be the best way to deal with this?” or: “How can use this experience in the future”? To add structure to the log and to make it easy to follow we recommend you reflect on the following points: What critical incidents have there been during the Finance Academy Programme? 5013v1

...Unit 5013V1 – Leadership Practice Task 1 A.C 1.1 – Discuss the concept of managers as effective leaders For a manager who leads a sales department in a medium sized construction materials company there are a number of responsibilities. These evolve around setting direction, motivating and inspiring the team and individuals, and co-ordinating workload and outputs. In order to manage effectively they would use the following methods/behaviours based around the key functions according to Henri Fayol; * Plan and make forecasts * organise work and schedule * co-ordinate the team/individuals * set tasks/give instructions and detail * monitor progress In addition, these management methods and behaviours are combined with a number of leadership functions which include; * Building a vision * Inspiring others * Motivating and empowering * Develop trust (with-in your team/sub-ordinates) * Looking at the bigger picture * People – knowing who they are Whilst these functions and behaviours appear as separate lists, Colenso (1997) identified that if executed with the correct balance the functions of a manager and leader can complement each other in order to deliver the desired result. Further-more, although there are two sets of skills/functions it must be recognised that it is most likely that the manager and leader are the same person. Therefore a combination of both sets is required in order for that person to be an effective manager and...

...The Civil Right Movement refers to the revolutionary and reformatory movement in the US purported to remove racial discrimination against black Americans and instituting suffrage in the South. The Civil Right Movement is a defining chapter in the US history because it earned the black Americans an equal right of citizenship as whites. It also brought about a significant change in the social and economic structure of the US, contributing to the passing of Civil Right Bill in 1964 and the Voting Right a year after. Reflective Essay I, along with four other students, comprised a group whose primary duties were to provide consultation for the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) of our university. The primary question was to determine whether or not it was feasible for the university to offer qualifications in management and leadership, as well as how much this qualification was in demand. My experience with the client consultancy project saw my group of five students come together successfully as a team in order to achieve these goals. Investor Behavior Stock market refers to a market for buying and selling stocks. People show interest in stocks mainly due to three reasons - long term growth opportunity for capital, dividends and an ensured hedge against the reduction of purchasing power owing to inflation. Another feature making the stock market a lucrative investment option for many is its liquidity. Majority of the people invest in stocks with the desire to accrue a benefit...
