The Coconut Grove Fire
On November 28, 1942 a fire in Boston broke out in a night club called “Coconut Grove” killing 492 people. Before the fire broke out, the Boston Fire Department received a call for a car fire at 10:15 PM, 3 blocks from the Cocoanut Grove. After rapidly extinguishing the fire, a firefighter noticed smoke coming out from the night club. The fire fighters went over to investigate it and saw heavy smoke coming from the entire structure. The Fire Chief at the scene ordered to skip the second alarm and request a third. By 11:02 PM there was a fifth alarm transmitted.
