Code Red was a computer worm observed on the Internet on July 15, 2001. It attacked computers running Microsoft's IIS web server. The Code Red worm was first discovered and researched by eEye Digital Security employees Marc Maiffret and Ryan Permeh. They named it "Code Red" because Code Red Mountain Dew was what they were drinking at the time. Although the worm had been released on July 13, the largest group of infected computers was seen on July 19, 2001. On this day, the number of infected hosts reached 359,000. The worm exploited a vulnerability in the indexing software distributed with IIS, described in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS01-033. The worm spread itself using a common type of vulnerability known as a [[buffer overflow]]. It did this by using a long string of the repeated character 'N' to overflow a buffer, allowing the worm to execute arbitrary code and infect the machine. Kenneth D. Eichman was the first to discover how to block it. Days 1-19: Trying to spread itself by looking for more IIS servers on the Internet. Days 20–27: Launch [[denial of service]] attacks on several fixed [[IP address]]es. The IP address of the [[White House]] web server was among those. Days 28-end of month: Sleeps, no active attacks. When scanning for vulnerable machines, the worm did not test to see if the server running on a remote machine was running a vulnerable version of IIS, or even to see if it was running IIS at all. The worm's payload is the string following the last 'N'. Due to a buffer overflow, a vulnerable host interprets this string as computer instructions, propagating the worm.

On August 4, 2001, Code Red II appeared. Code Red II is a variant of the original Code Red worm. Although it uses the same injection vector it has a completely different payload. It pseudo-randomly chose targets on the same or different subnets as the infected machines according to

Autocad Layer Standards

...important when CAD files are distributed among architects, consultants, and clients. Layer names consist of a Discipline Code-Major Group-Minor Group-Status Field. The format for the CAD Standard is as follows: Discipline Code Discipline is the primary method of classification for layer names. The discipline code provides a path back to the originator of the data and provides a logical categorization of CAD information. The discipline code is intended primarily to identify the author of the graphic information. Thus, a structural column placed by an architect would be A-COLS rather than S-COLS. The existence of both sets of information can in fact indicate the need for coordination. The Discipline Code is a one or two-character field with the second character either a hyphen or a user-defined modifier. The discipline codes are listed below. A Architectural M Mechanical C Civil P Plumbing E Electrical Q Equipment F Fire Protection R Resource G General S Structural H Hazardous Materials T Telecommunications I Interiors X Other L Landscape Z Contractor/shop Drawings Major Group The Major Group designation identifies the building system. This field must contain four characters. Although Major Groups are logically grouped with specific discipline codes, it is possible to combine Major Groups with any of the Discipline Codes. For example, a drawing might contain the following layers. A-Roof Roof A-Anno Annotation A-Beam Beam A-Chim...

Pureology: Reviving Red

...Pureology: Reviving Red Denise Luders American Intercontinental University Abstract Red hair color is one of the hardest hair color shades to maintain. Pureology’s Reviving Red hair color line is sulfate-free and promotes vibrancy and a layer of lipids that conceal the hair color back into the follicle with each use. The product, price, place and promotion of Pureology’s Reviving Red is discovered here. Pureology: Reviving Red Pureology’s Reviving Red product line is unlike any other product out on the market. It’s of high interest to hair stylists and colorists, as well as colored hair consumers. Because coloring ones’ hair is an expense, normally they would want to buy products that would enhance the color, keep the vibrancy of the color, and maintain the color thereby extending the longevity of the color. In any part of marketing you will always encounter four distinct areas: product, price, place, and promotion. The product refers to what the company is producing, the type of packaging they may use, ingredients they may use in their product or guarantees their product offers. Price refers to the amount at which the product will sell for in order for their product to be successful, and it may vary over time depending on profitability of their product. A place of a product refers to how a company or an individual would best market their product, distribution of that product, and where they would place in it order for it to sell. In other words, where can...

Color Symbolism in Tess of the D’urbervilles

...Throughout the Victorian Era, writing provided a passage, a gateway, to manipulate a shifting society. Since the family and domestic life were fundamental parts of that society, reading became a source of pleasure attained by staying at home. These Victorian readers had been powerfully affected by the political, fiscal, societal, and religious modifications that had been taking place. They basically revolted in opposition to the development that was taking place, by holding responsible their troubles on religious uncertainty, Darwin and the climb of science, class disparity, poverty, and industrialization. Additionally, Victorians and their obsolete obsession with ‘purity’ spoke out against sex, the liberation of women, and tough individuality in women, considering that they would direct the end of well-built ethical and moral values in the family and in community all together. As a consequence of all of these debates leading to controversies, people gave in to a remarkable horror of transforming and condemned any idea or work that exposed their sense of steadiness. Such condemnation gave rise to many novelists and poets who saw this oppression negatively affecting their imaginative and artistic natures and hence decided to stand against it. One of the writers whose work best exemplifies the Age of doubt was Thomas Hardy, he was an English novelist and poet writing at the end of the 19th century, but for today's readers, his novels frequently appear more modern than Victorian...
