Cohesive, Smooth Running School

Submitted By

It is my belief that in a school or classroom setting the first step to having a cohesive, smooth running school or classroom is to establish rules and expectations from the beginning of the year, day one. Students need to know what the expectations are and be held accountable for their actions, being good or bad. As the teacher of my classroom and a staff member I will set the expectations for the student body from the minuet I have my students. In my classroom I will set the expectation and each child will know what is acceptable and what is not acceptable. I will start by letting the students know I am human and I too have a set of rules, procedures, and expectations I have to follow. We all need to follow (PAP) policy

Definition Essay: Defining Myself

...A definition of myself. A seventeen year old female athlete in high school. That is what anyone walking down the street would say, but that random person walking down the street is not writing this essay. So, I am going to start over. A definition of myself. I am temperamental, I get aggressive, I tend to trust easier than I should, I forgive too easily, I am almost always angry, the glass tends to be half empty, I throw fits, my words tend to be venom, and I do not know who I am. I cannot pinpoint where I fit into society and what my purpose is. I do know that I am an aggressive teenage girl that runs Cross Country and Track, I am a girl that sings in my school's choir, I am a girl that tapes and bandages together wounded athlete in my school's athletic activities, I am a girl that enjoys listening to music so loudly that people have to repeat themselves at least twice before I can form a coherent sentence in my head, and I am a girl that is still trying to form a cohesive definition of myself....

English-Only Debate Paper

...Running head: ENGLISH-ONLY DEBATE PAPER English-Only Debate Paper Anne-Cecile Grundy Grand Canyon University ESL 523N September 26, 2010 Abstract English language learners are a very heterogeneous and complex group of children, with diverse gifts, educational needs, backgrounds, languages, and goals. They are the fastest growing section of the student population in schools and offer challenges and opportunities to the American education. In this study, the writer will explore the arguments of both sides of the English-only issue, which started decades ago and is still very active today. Emphasis will be placed on the comparison and contrast of the positions presented by advocates and opponents of the English-only debate and will be supported with state’ voter-driven initiatives and laws relating to English language learners. English-Only Debate Paper In the eighteen century, education in the United States was provided in different languages: German, Dutch, French or Swedish. After World War I, when German was a proscribed language, the American population started to think about an education solely in English. However, until 1968, the language policies were left to the discretion of the school, church, city, or state. At this time, the federal government dictated how the non-English-speaking students should be taught, and therefore, started a very controversial debate in the public education sector (Porter, 1998). “In September 1995, Representative John T. Doolittle...

Eric and Kipsy

...Eric and Kipsy Eric and Kipsy are both employees of a suburban firm that wholesales electrical components. Eric is a new manager of product information who was hired right out of management training while Kipsy is one of 35 female workers employed by the firm, to provide current information of the large inventory of electrical equipment and supplies to the salesmen in the field. The female workers range from recent high school graduates in their first job to middle age housewives. After being shown what the tasks of the clerks were when the salesmen called in to request product information and how this information was located and relayed to the salesmen, Eric was soon fascinated by both the efficiency of the operation and the pleasantness of the surroundings. Eric soon realized how mistaken he was about the smooth running of the firm’s operations. The numerous complaints he was receiving from the salesmen in the field about the product information service showed him there were big problems within the organization. He recognized three general problems which were frequent and serious enough to command immediate attention and action. First, salesmen were unable to get through quickly to the information clerks, errors were excessive and clerks were often abrupt and unfriendly to salesmen when they called. As Eric attempted to find the reasons for these problems, he discovered more problems. Absenteeism and turn over were extremely high and when this occurred, temporary workers...

The Innovation Cycel of the Post It Note

...“If I had thought about it, I wouldn't have done the experiment. The literature was full of examples that said you can't do this.” - Spencer Silver on the work that led to the unique adhesives for 3-M Post-It Notepads. Innovation has been described by The Oxford Dictionary as the introduction of new things, ideas or ways of doing something. The Post-it Note is a product so conceptually simple, that in the technologically advanced time we live in, we have been almost desensitised to its brilliant innovation. The innovation of the Post It Note went through a number of distinct stages and processes. In this assignment I will attempt to give a clear and cohesive analysis starting from the earliest ideas of the Post It right through to the products available today. 3M The physical invention of the post it spanned over a period of 10 years, however, I believe the earliest derivation of the modern day Post It Note can be traced back to the very establishment of the 3M Company itself. In 1902 the business got off to a rather bad start when a group of investors by mistake bought a mountain containing worthless mineral to start a business to mine corundum to manufacture sand paper). Unsurprisingly the company did not generate profit for 14 years. Seemingly spurred on by their less than successful origins, 3m have since always strived to create a working environment in which innovation can flourish. Brand (1998) on the topic of 3m states that “to guarantee such conditions are in place...

Views of buyer-supplier relationships have evolved from the old school of the 1980s, where buyers and suppliers were viewed as part of a zero-sum game, to the more collaborationist outlook of the 1990s, which claimed that buyers and suppliers could cooperate to the benefit of both, to the more network-oriented view of the 2000s, where buyers and suppliers are parts of organic business ecosystems. Today these relationships have become “strategic” and the process of relationships development is accelerated as firms strive to create relationships to achieve their goals. Saxon Ville Sausage

...Saxonville Sausage Company On a sunny March day in 2006, Ann Banks, new product marketing director at Saxonville Sausage Company, stood waiting outside the executive conference room. The owner, president, chief financial officer, and three functional vice presidents—including her manager, Vice President of Marketing Steve Sears—would soon hear her plan for launching a national Italian sausage brand that Saxonville needed to bring to market in order to achieve its profit objectives for the next fiscal year. Banks reflected back over the lessons of the past six months. Saxonville’s Background Saxonville was a 70-year-old, privately held family business headquartered in Saxonville, Ohio, with 2005 revenues of approximately $1.5 billion. The company produced a variety of pork sausage products, predominantly fresh sausage as opposed to smoked or semi-dried. The heart of the business consisted of branded products: bratwurst (70% of Saxonville’s revenues); breakfast sausage, both links and patties (20% of revenues); and an Italian sausage named Vivio (5% of revenues). Storebrand products accounted for the additional 5% of revenues. While the bratwurst and breakfast products were sold throughout the United States via both national and regional brokers and distributors, the products had very little distribution in stores in the Northeastern markets. Since 2004, both the bratwurst and breakfast categories across all sausage producers had been flat (0% volume increase)...

Contribution of Frank and Lillian Gillberth to the Field of Management

...F.W. Taylor contributed a number of principles and features of management thought that adhered to his new concept of approaching management thought scientifically. He was one of the founders of management thought theory and is considered the father of scientific management. His ideas were developed and used for decades after the concept was created. • Principles of scientific management. Taylor believed that scientific management consists of a philosophy that results in a combination of four main principles. The first principle suggests that management need to develop the best way to complete a job. It is the task of finding the best method for achieving the objectives of a given job. The second principle states that management must carry out a scientific selection of their workers and develop them through proper management. Thirdly, management must carry out a scientific approach. That is, a true science should be developed in all fields of work activity. The fourth and final principle states that there should be an elimination on conflicts between methods and men. Workers are likely to resist new methods and this can be avoided by using it as an opportunity to offer more wages. • Features of scientific management. Taylor put forward a huge number of features of scientific management. One was the introduction of the standard task which every worker is expected to complete within a day. This task should be calculated through scientific investigation and work study is essential...
