I think that to achieve what I want in life that this is the best field of study for me. I want to be successful. I want to be wealthy. I want to change the world for the better. That’s the same way that one man thought back in the early 1970’s. This man was Steven Paul Jobs. Over the last 30 years he has paved the way for an industry that is constantly changing. He was a man that came from nothing and showed the world that anybody who dreams for something can accomplish it. He is a leader not only in business but also in the world. Many people look up to him, including myself, and I would one day hope to possess an ounce of the leadership that he had. I have already attained my associate’s degree in business administration in June of 2011 from Orange County Community College in Middletown New York. While there I learned the basics to what it takes to become successful in the business industry. The reason that I chose this degree is because I work for Best Buy. When I started there I knew that I wanted to be more than a part timer. I knew that one day I wanted to work my way up the ladder and become a bigger piece to the puzzle. So I worked hard and decided to start college. Now that I am a supervisor and that I have one degree under my belt I just want to continue...

In the early 1980s, multiple studies were conducted to determine the normal values of LA size. Over the past decade, LA size as an imaging biomarker has been consistently shown to be a powerful predictor of outcomes, including major public health problems such as atrial fibrillation, heart failure, stroke, and death. More recently, functional assessment of the LA has been shown to be, at least as, if not more robust, a marker of cardiovascular outcomes. Current available data suggest that the combined evaluation of LA size and LA function will augment prognostication. The aim of this review is to provide a critical appraisal of current echocardiographic techniques for the assessment of LA function and the implications of such assessment for prediction and disease prevention. ------------------------------------------------------------------...

...1 CHAPTER I THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND Introduction Education is the development of the endowed capacities in the individual, which will enable him to control his environment and fulfill his possibilities to a major extent. Education is a fostering, a nurturing and a cultivating process and is attentive to all conditions of development. Furthermore, education is considered also a social process and implies a social framework for social individual development. Rahman and Uddin (2009) indicated that education is a basic need of human beings. It is also very important for the development of any country. Education is the responsibility of the state and government who should make every possible effort to provide it on an ever interesting and increasing scale in accordance with the national resources. In the rising seas of education’s changes, a group of people who have been increasingly affected is at the instance of a much serious array of problems regarding education. This group of people is composed of some 355 students of the Department of Economics of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. 2 For the past years, studies regarding the status and determining factors regarding the academic performance of the students of PUP - Department of Economics were seldom done and there were insufficient information about these matters. Citations were apparent but there were no individual studies conducted to discover the determinants affecting the...

...Cambridge University Press 0521804167 - Euthanasia, Ethics and Public Policy: An Argument Against Legalisation John Keown Frontmatter More information EUTHANASIA, ETHICS AND PUBLIC POLICY An Argument against Legalisation Whether the law should permit voluntary euthanasia or physicianassisted suicide is one of the most vital questions facing all modern societies. Internationally, the main obstacle to legalisation has proved to be the objection that, even if they were morally acceptable in certain hard cases, voluntary euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide could not be effectively controlled; society would slide down a slippery slope to the killing of patients who did not make a free and informed request, or for whom palliative care would have offered an alternative. How cogent is this objection? This book provides the general reader (who need have no expertise in philosophy, law or medicine) with a lucid introduction to this central question in the debate, not least by reviewing the Dutch euthanasia experience. It will interest readers in any country, whether for or against legalisation, who wish to ensure that their opinions are better informed. john keown is Senior Lecturer in the Law and Ethics of Medicine, Faculty of Law, University of Cambridge. Group, Saskatchewan Univ., Saskatoon, Sask. This paper appears in: Generation, Transmission and Distribution, IEE Proceedings C Issue Date: Mar 1990 Volume: 137 Issue:2 On page(s): 159 - 167 ISSN: 0143-7046 INSPEC Accession Number: 3606872 Date of Current Version: 06 å «æ 2002 Abstract The authors present a technique which includes interruptible loads in the probabilistic assessment of the operating reserve in isolated and interconnected generating systems. This technique is then used to evaluate the magnitude and corresponding maximum allowable time delay of load interruption required to reduce the unit commitment risk in the absence of other capacity adjustments. They also present a probabilistic technique which can be used to evaluate the inherent interruptible load carrying capability of an isolated and interconnected generating system which exists without having to commit any extra units other than those required to carry the firm load. The study provides an insight into load interruption and its effect on the system risk. The techniques developed are illustrated by numerical examples. These techniques can be used in short and medium term operational planning Electric Power Systems Research Volume 18, Issue 2, March 1990, Pages 99–103 Microprocessor based on-line assessment...

Structured questionnaires were administrated to 850 residence hall students, and 752 questionnaires were usable out of these numbers. The result of the study indicated that free internet access, lockable storage space and mirror inside student’s room, water machine and variety of food in food stall were the 5 most preferred facilities in the residence halls. A study of factors influencing purchase decision in an online jewelry store (63 pp.) Advisor of Independent Study Dr. Paul TJ James ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to find factors influencing purchase decision in an online jewelry store, in order to help Precium Oy Ltd. to prepare its launch of a web store selling silver jewelry. A quantitative online survey was conducted to Finnish Facebook users, who were connected with the owners of Precium Oy Ltd. Out of 502 questionnaires sent, 206 responses were collected in the time of one week. The findings of the study indicate that reliability is the most important upper-level factor influencing purchase decision in an online jewelry store. More detailed factors which create reliability were found, such as familiar payment methods, appearance of the online store and third party recommendations. From the products and services perspective, the appearance of the jewelry was the most important factor influencing...
