Many college athletes get away with crimes such as rape, manslaughter, and drunk/drug induced driving just to name a few. Recently college athletes have been called out for the crimes they have committed without facing any charges and having the victim silenced and can not tell anyone what they did. NCAA players should not get protection when they commit a crime because athletes should not receive special treatment, laws are for all people, and it is a disservice when they are not punished for their crimes.
Students should not get special treatment just because they are athletes. Florida running back Chris Rainey was charged once out of the 5 crimes he committed as seen in

Florida had the highest number of athletes named…show more content… From 2009-2014, basketball players at Florida colleges avoided all criminal charges and prosecution two thirds of the time when named suspect. 28% of the crimes ended with no charges being filed or charges being upheld. Baylor and it’s football team not only affected how administrators and coaches handled allegations of rape against athletes but also kept the university from drug testing the athletes for marijuana. As seen above laws are for all people therefor athletes deserve to be charged for crimes.
The final reason students not get special treatment is because it is a disservice to the players. Williams was convicted of rape and sexual battery, however the charges were overturned. Florida State University Police case from 2012, police asked a football player if they can look at his car for trace of a hit and run, but he said he was busy and would late but never did. Tallahassee officers declined to be talked to about letting a student by because he was a athlete. As seen above it is a disservice to the athletes therefore they should not get special treatment. Athletes should never get away with crimes. People may disagree because they are losing a key part of their team. NCAA players should not get protection when they
