...San Beda College GRADUATE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS 1 BUS 117-C1 HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT Job Analysis and Job Design Reported by: Josephine dela Cruz Garces Job Analysis and Job Design Clearly, the case above is a manifestation of poor human resource practice. There is an apparent lack of job analysis and job design that could have produced the document and the system that would minimize, if not totally eradicate, cases similar to that mentioned from occurring. Meaning and Nature of Job Analysis Job analysis, as a human resource practice, pertains to “the systematic process of determining the skills, duties, and knowledge required for performing jobs in an organization.” (Mondy, 2012). In similar manner, Dr. Roque (2005) defined job analysis as “the process of determining and reporting pertinent information relating to the nature of a specific job” (Roque and Edralin, 2005). As such, job analysis is an activity that sets in detail the tasks necessary in performing one‟s duties in an organization. It so to speak acts as the employees‟ „bible‟ that would set the standards and needed qualifications in successfully performing one‟s functions in the organization. In any organization, this function is the starting point of human resources management. Clearly, other HR functions such as, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisal, training needs analysis, compensation management, cast dependence on it. This can be manifested in the following paradigm: “That In All Things...

...English Comp 2 Writing Assignment 1A The Value of a College Education Today A college education today is more valuable today then any other period in our history. In the past college education was only obtainable by the elite and wealthy. Today college education can be obtained through many different ways, it is no longer only for the wealthy. Since almost anyone can obtain a higher education it becomes more important in everyday life. The education offers a person better jobs, better performance on the job, and better communication skills on and off the job. With a college education no longer is a person relegated to doing the same job a parent did or taking over the family business. Just because a person was raised on a farm does not mean they have to be a farmer. After going to college they can become a doctor, teacher, or anything they want to be. The average person with a college education earns more money then someone with out an education. Besides the money and the better job opportunities the education can help the person perform better on the job. The saying “knowledge is power” is true. A person who does take over the family business only knows what the family has taught them. If they are educated in the ways of business then they have the opportunity to help the business grow and flourish beyond where it is at now. No matter what a person does for a living communication is a key factor in just about everything they do inside and out side...

...Jon Doe Comp 2 (Due April 3. Bingeing article review) 1.) Title: How Bingeing Became the New College Sport Author: Barrett Seaman Date & Place of pub..: 8/29/2005, Time magazine - From the title I get the impression the author is giving a sarcastic viewpoint of how college kids drink way too much. - The articles topic and claim is that pre-gaming has become a college tradition. And the author seems to be speaking from a disturbed point of view. I agree that pre-gaming has become a form of tradition amongst college students. However one thing that I do not agree with is that the “tradition” of pre-gaming has been limited to just college students. I remember college was really when I started to drink, and pre-gaming was something that everyone did before going out. It wasn’t enough to drink once you get out but people wanted to, in a way, start the party before they were even at the party. I remember pre-gaming with my roommates my second year of school. We were all getting ready to go to a club, and had decided to purchase some liquor to drink at the dorm. A couple of us were still pretty new to the drinking seen so naturally it is easy to see why one of us may not know our limits. My roommate was a perfect example of this. He got so drunk that he passed out it his bed before we even left. Then when we tried to wake him up, he began throwing up in his bed only to lay back down in his own vomit and pass out again. Lucky for us, his girlfriend was there...

...Rob Ward GE 217 Professor Noon Comp 2 How Bingeing Became the New College Sport Based on the abstract of the article, my judgment would be that the article is going to talk about the fact that changing the legal age limit for drinking, binge drinking will be effected one way or another. I can’t tell from the preview if the change in the legal drinking age would be positive or negative toward college binge drinking. Based on the title of the article I would assume that the writer is using a fallacy to draw readers in. Binge drinking absolutely never could or would be considered a sport. The title of the article would appear, in my opinion, to be a false analogy. The title almost seems as if the writer is saying this in a joking way, trying to promote humor. Ironic humor, but still, humor, this subject is not a laughing matter and should not ever be taken lightly, but the name of his article does make me interested in reading it. I do not know who Barrett Seaman is, but I can see that the article was published in Time Magazine, so that would lead me to believe he is a credible writer. After reading the article, it is obvious that the writer believes that lowering the legal age for drinking would have a positive effect on bingeing. He talks about a college in Montreal, saying that the students there have a better control on their alcohol consumption by the time midterms come; do no students ever die due to alcohol on this campus? He carefully leaves that bit of information...

...4732%. * How would you modify the manager’s claim if the distribution of shoe size was not normal? (1 point). I would change the claim to 75% and calculate the range using Chebychev’s Theorem. Using this theorem, 75% of the data should fall within 2 standard deviations of the mean, so the 75% of the time a shoe size would between size 8 and 14. * What is (are) size(s) of shoe for which the probability of occurrence is less than or equal to 5%? In your deliverables, report the size. Explain in a few lines how you came to your conclusion. For this, assume shoe size is normally distributed. (2 points). To calculate this we can calculate for 5% and 95% probability using Norm Inverse. This gives the number of 8.53272 and 13.46728. So a shoe size below 8.53272 or larger than 13.46728 has a probability of less than or equal to 5%. 2. Those who apply for admission to OSU’s graduate college have to take and report their GMAT or GRE scores. Who has a better score, a student with 600 on the GRE or a student with 660 on the GMAT? Why? (2 points). The GMAT student has a higher score since both scores are higher than...
