...College Tuition Reimbursement Amanda Taylor October 23, 2010 Imagine a young woman or man receiving their first job. Now each of these two individuals knows that they want to further their education and move up in the company that they are working for. Both of these people go to the HR department and receive what the benefits will be as they continue their work at this company. The young lady finds out that in her benefits package she can receive college tuition reimbursement. What is that you ask? College tuition reimbursement is an agreement between an employer and employee that outlines specific terms under which the employer may pay for the employee's continuing education. Among the benefits an employee can receive, this is the greatest one by far. I will be explaining why college tuition is a great asset to every company benefit package and how it can help improve the company. My sister works at the local hospital. She has been working there for about a year. She is a CNA which stands for Certified Nurse’s Assistant. Now this certificate is easy to achieve. You take a couple classes over a three month period and you take a test at the end and you become certified. Anyone can do it. Health care is a growing career, with that being said there is a strong need for people in this type of field. The hospital offers college tuition reimbursement. ...Rising Costs of College College tuition is a hot topic these days. For a long time, people did not pay much attention to tuition. Today, things are changing. More and more people are realizing how high tuition has reached and now they want that to change. In this essay, I have tried to approach a very difficult topic. The problem with this topic was that while searching for facts and information I found that almost all of the information regarding it was attack after attack on the college administrations. I found no writings by college administrators attempting to defend themselves. When I started the research for my first paper this semester, I thought I would just be cruising through another English course, effortlessly composing the required essays, and looking over other peoples' thoughts on topics I could not care less about. That all changed when I discovered the truth about how much college tuition has gotten out of control over the years. Students have every right to be angry about the state of college tuition. In the past 20 years, "tuition increased twice as fast as the overall cost of living (Larson, 63)." Between 1980 and 1990, the average cost of attending public and private colleges increased by 109% and 146%, respectively “ (Hood, 10). To put these figures into perspective, we can compare them with other rising costs during the same 10-year period. Those who can afford these outrageous prices can usually also ignore it. As for the rest of us, when every...

...study by Discover Financial Services, 81% of parents with college-bound kids between the ages of 16-18 say attending college “Greatly affects their child's success.” Despite this, 75% of parents say they worry about covering the cost of college. Should such an important step in the life of many young adults be so drastically overpriced? Paying for a college education without taking out loans developed into impractical idea. In effect, most young adults have large amounts of debt in advance to them starting their carrier. Although some people believe college tuition is fairly priced, colleges and universities take advantage of the students feeling that a college education determines their success. On the other hand, supporters of the current college tuition average mostly credit a high inflation rate, a high increase in the demand for a college education and a high increase in the number of professors. For example, an argument...

As I compare the two articles based on expensive college tuition, "The Real Reason College Tuition Cost So Much" by Paul F. Camposapril and " The Tuition Is Too Damn High, Part lll" by Dylan Mathews. Paul F.C. does further research in and states a lot of facts that i never would have thought of. First he says that the issue is not with the colleges but rather with the actual state. The state funding has come to a...

...important to understand how colleges and universities have been able to raise their prices without much objection. These culprits have skated by increasing tuition prices so dramatically, and Americans have sat back angered at the expensive investment they were about to embark on. They make that investment nonetheless because it is supposed to be worth it or possibly because they have no other choice. Students (likely young eighteen year olds right out of high school) are too willing to pay for an investment, like a college a degree, simply because they can get a loan for it. There is still value in a college education, and colleges know that. They prey on students who are willing to take out those extra loans to support the increasing tuition prices, and loosened standards of lending, both in the government and in the private sector, permit such a practice. Part III.A discusses why colleges and the government are both to blame. This crisis did not happen overnight, and could have been foreseen if only more attention...

...will it take for colleges to set tuition cost at an affordable rate for all students? Higher education is an opportunity in social advancement, yet the cost of college is a barrier that many struggle to get through. In recent years the cost of college has risen 6.5% in the 2008-09 school year. The recent rise in college tuition and fees has made it difficult for students to reach their goal of having a higher education. It is difficult to graduate from college in four years when there are so many barriers holding back students. Higher education is a goal students strive for, yet students hit a road block when it comes to the cost of attending college. Not all students have the privilege of receiving financial aid, which is only given to those of low income families who “[d]o not have the tens of thousands of dollars needed to fund their children’s higher education” (Update: College Tuition cost 2). Some students cannot afford to pay for five classes, so they are left taking one or two classes per semester. Since tuition has been increasing it is “making it difficult for many students to obtain a college education” (College Tuition Cost 1). A college degree is an important asset in obtaining a well paid job, if students are not able to afford it, future generation will not be able to afford it either. The recent rise of college tuition leads students to acquire a debt in student loans. Students have begun using the loans as a last resort to paying for college. This issue has...

...As a citizen living in your riding, I am writing to you to express my concerns about high college tuitions. I am currently a first year student attending Georgian College, studying Police Foundations. Most of my good friends have gone off to different colleges around Ontario and we all have one thing in common, that our student debt is starting to increase. It is my belief that high college tuitions have a negative effect not only on individual citizens, but also on the future of Canada. In the past few years, college tuitions has hit an all-time high with no intent of slowing down. With the recession that has happened and the cost of living increasing, it is becoming extremely difficult for students to pay for tuitions. This results in a...

...been thinking about and planning for college for a very long time. During this time, I have changed my major several times from Business Administration to International Relations, and the list goes on and on. This search that began sometime during third grade did not include tuitions until recently. Tuitions have always been important, but I have never worried about them. I grew up being taught that if you do your work and make good grades, money will fall into your lap. The reality, however, is that it is not that simple. Last year I settled on wanting to become a lawyer. During the summer, I was afforded the opportunity to be an intern for a public sector attorney. Through this experience I learned a lot about potential debt specific to my profession. It became clear to me that while undergraduate tuition may not be a problem, paying for law school just might kick me in the rear. Essentially, I could be in debt for years unless I become a General...

...College Tuition Cost On The Rise You may try to take away my pride, you may try to take away my dignity, you may try to take away my beauty, and you may attempt to take away my existence in this world, but you could never take away my knowledge. In today society, having a higher education degree offers you many opportunities such as getting a dream job, but also earning a higher education can either be the American dream or a college student and their families’ worst nightmare. It is not a simple task to wake up one morning and decide to go to college without any savings. ...small amount of financial aid given to families has resulted in the inability for many students to progress and get ahead in their studies. Financial aid and tuition costs are both significant factors that determine where or if students go to a certain community college, college, university, or simply decide to not further their education. Debt and other factors are most likely to arise due to the fact that they chose an education, and this contributes to problems later on in the individuals’ life. Government assistance and high tuition has become an immense problem for not only me, but students, families, and throughout communities and the United States. The cost of...

...Over the past several years, college education has become a highly controversial topic worldwide due to the grave increase in the tuition costs. The indefinite escalation in costs is causing the students to resort to student loans to help them temporarily overcome the financial obstacles to finish their college education. However, the graduates eventually become tremendously indebted and struggle to get back on their feet post-graduation to recuperate the college costs. The latter, along with many other factors, leads to raise the critical question of whether a college degree is worth the high cost. The following literature review will be conducting an investigation in whether college education remains worthwhile and pays off in the shadow...

...Over 83% of the American population cannot afford college tuition, because college remains an unaffordable and unattainable goal for most of the population. Being in high school, we always talk about how important college is, but is it important enough to take four years out of someone’s life and spend and average of one hundred thousand dollars for a four year degree? Studies have shown that people who get a college degree get higher paying jobs, than those who just have a high school diploma. Which means college should not only be important to the entire country, but a necessity that needs to be more affordable to the general population. Being the first generation in my family to go to college it is not only a dream of mine, but of my entire...

...Rising College tuition issue While applying to college, the average student should be looking for the school that suits them best. Where the student will grow and succeed as a student, and more importantly as a person, should be the focus of choosing where to attend school. In this modern day and age students can not focus on this. The price of going to a 4 year university is and has been growing exponentially for years, much faster than the average family income is rising, thus making the choice of where a student goes to college almost exclusively based on what their family can afford. Student loans are the main source of how students pay for college, putting the average student in debt right from the start of their adult lives. The issue...
