Recently, more and more college graduates are getting hired by highly respectable companies. National Associate of Colleges and Employers (NACE) conducted a survey which stated employers will hire 9.6% more college graduates for the U.S. workforce than the previous year (Adams, 2015). NACE is a non-profit group based out of Pennsylvania that surveyed more than one thousand companies. They received responses from 162 companies from all facets of the employment sector (Adams, 2015). The survey asked employers to rate the academic degrees they target for employee hires. The most coveted degree for employers is engineering with a seventy two percent hiring rate (Adams, 2015). Organizations look to hire graduates with a business degree at an astounding rate of sixty eight percent (Adams, 2015). The degrees that bring up the rear are humanities, health sciences, agriculture, and education. That shouldn’t warrant someone not going for a degree in that particular field. The same survey asked employers to rate the most coveted skill in newly hired employees. ...“Life’s not out to get you, despite the things you’ve been through…” A quote I will never forget. As a young aspiring musician, there will always be hardships and sinkholes. Three years of work turned to six, and now to nine. Although I fell apart after these fateful days, my achy bones tell a story along with my tattered clothes from each night after that December. 13 year old Jenaro, a wannabe local musician, has his first show only days away from turning 14. The event drew closer and I envisioned it being the best time of my career, possibly my life. That fateful night brought panic attacks, anger, and my deep seeded self-loathing up front to the masses, and I failed myself. A tightly packed crowd watched on as a younger me broke down under my internal turmoil reaching its boiling point. Repression set in, I was certain I’d never pursue music after that night. Secluded, I hid myself for close to a year after that day. I was humbled by my experience, but deeply I knew I couldn’t just give up forever. Mid way through the spring, my phone vibrated in my...

...Back to College Kristen Marcel English 121: English Composition 1 Michael Slotemaker March 30, 2015 Back to College I think that everybody should consider going to college. Deciding to go back to college was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Going back to college was a very important decision. I took many steps in order to make sure I was making the right choice. It has and will continue to be a very positive influence in my life. Graduating college will improve my life in major ways. Providing the qualifications I will need to for my career choice, boosting my overall self-worth, and the feeling of achievement that I will receive from graduating college will effect the rest of my life. Having to chose a college that worked best for me and what to major in were the hardest steps to take. I used the internet to research different colleges. I also researched what careers go with certain majors. At first, I wasn't sure what college to pick from. I knew that an online college would work better for me because of the flexibility. The classroom environment was not something I cared for since it was hard for me to learn anything with so much going on. I always wanted a business or finance degree. When I noticed that Ashford was associated with Forbes, I was very interesting in finding out more about the school. With the help of my Admissions Counselor, I took all the appropriate steps so that I could begin working on my studies. I think that getting a degree...

...purposes Verbal communication is one of the best methods when it comes to communicating with another individual or individuals, this is because when you are emailing someone, the point you are trying to get across doesn’t always get their understanding, as they aren’t able to hear the tone of your voice to understand what it is you are meaning by what you are saying. Verbal communication can be done face to face, over the phone, or using devices such as Skype. Interacting face to face is also quicker and helps you get a better understanding of the information that the individual is giving to you, it also gives you the chance to ask any questions to the person who is providing you with this information, and it also helps you get to know other individuals. Verbal communication is something that people do in their everyday lives, and it’s something that people are used to. There for it’s probbaly the best method when it comes to communicating with people and getting information to individuals. ...Why do the best athletes have to go to college if they are skilled enough to go to the pros out of high school? There are two sides to this argument, the top athletes should get a college education v.s. The top athletes should go straight to the pro’s. Athletes should have to get 4 years of a college education otherwise if they get injured and can’t play anymore, they won’t have a college degree. By the end of this essay, both sides to the argument will be explained. In the MLB and NHL, you don’t have to go to a University. The top high school athletes in baseball and hockey are recruited and are not required to attend a University unless they choose to. Meanwhile, in the NBA and NFL, you are required to go to college. This is because...

...Debating The Electoral College”, by Judith A. Best, her thesis is one in defense of the Electoral College system. She describes it as a “complex majority rule system” that allows for increased participation of the minority and an “extraordinary majority.” Her statement, is as follows; “The electoral vote system is the very model of our federal system. If the federal principle is legitimate (and I think it is) then it is just as legitimate in the selection of the president as in the selections of the Congress.”1 The author is writing this work in response to many critics of the Constitution, and more specifically the Electoral College and the electoral vote system. Some of these critics are the American Bar Association, League of Women Voters, and many other factions of other political interest groups. They mostly argue that the electoral vote system is undemocratic and indefensible. Judith Best argues that not only is the system democratic and federal, but “it is a model of the American constitutional democracy.”2 The author points out that the Electoral College, (which usually arises in a debate during the course of any significant election, especially for the presidency) survives for numerous reasons. She points out that is the most heavily challenged part of the Constitution putting it at the top of the list for historical efforts to amend it. The main reason this aspect survives is that most individuals and citizens don’t know what the Electoral College is or that it exists...

Most Americans know very little about the Electoral College, unless it’s an election year in which an increased number of Americans gain a general understanding of the system. Among Americans who have an understanding of the Electoral College system there is often debate as to whether or not America should still use the system that dates back to our founding fathers. These debates unearth topics such as how the Electoral College is the best compromise for our country, or how the system is outdated and was only created so the founding fathers could perpetuate slavery. Although the Electoral College is not a perfect system, it should not be abolished. What is the Electoral College? “The Electoral College...
