The Colombian boa constrictor is a 5’-12’ long constrictor native to Colombia. They are nonvenomous and usually not a threat to locals. They like hot climates with some humidity and stay usually near the river or in the forests nearby. They are capable swimmers and climbers but mostly stay on the ground.
They will eat anything as small as mice to as large as pig in the wild. Like most snakes, they are an ambush predator that waits until a worthy meal passes. The snake will then strike out quickly biting into its prey with its fangs to hold in and will quickly coil around the prey stopping blood flow so the prey loses consciousness. The boa will then consume the animal whole and once in the snake’s belly, a very strong acid will break down
