From the beginning, the Gunnison Valley has been a source of education, work, and recreational activities. Tourists, students, and employers come from near and far to enjoy the amenities that Gunnison and Crested Butte has to offer. Western State Colorado University students make up 2,200 of the 5,892 people that live in the Gunnison Valley. In 1923 the two year “Normal” school switched over to become a four year university known as “Western State College”. Also in 1923, Western picked up the mascot of “the fawns”, to represent speed and agility that the school’s athletics represented. But since then, WSCU has changed the mascot to “The Mountaineers” with the colors Crimson and Slate. Crimson; to represent the Indian Paint Brush and Slate; the color of Sage brush that grew above the college. Western originally started out as a small teaching school, but it has done nothing but grow throughout the years. Today Western holds the record for the four year university with the highest elevation at 7,703 feet above sea level. Also for the largest collegiate letter that is currently placed at the top of the previously named “Tenderfoot Mountain”. So much so, that 56% of college students are overweight, 48% of all college students complain of low energy and 25% of U.S. college students eat zero fruits and vegetables on any given day. So many people in today’s educational system do not realize how important the way students are eating is, and the negative effects that eating certain foods can have on their bodies and school work. Colorado Mountain College houses students at the Spring Valley Campus; subsequently, they supply a cafeteria with meals everyday. The food that is served in this cafeteria however, is potentially aiding to the freshman fifteen, overweight students, low energy levels, and the lack of fruits and vegetables in students’ diets. This problem is not only caused by what the cafeteria is ordering from their food provider (Sudexo), but it also is a direct reflection of what the students are demanding, or in most cases not demanding, to eat. Obviously, not every student should be stripped the right to eat pizza or to have a bowl of ice cream if that is how they want to eat. But the students that are choosing to pass on those foods and eat something of a wholesome, nutritious nature, are limited to what they can eat on a day to day basis. The event has limited registration that will host approximately fifty participates. Individuals must R.S.V.P in order to partake in the event. The R.S.V.P was a unique experience of its own. I base this observation on the sensitivity of the questions that were asked. The registration included a short questionnaire that asked individuals about their preferred pronouns, salient identities, and challenges being faced. The questionnaire then concluded with practices, techniques and/or resources used to cope. With the final question being asked was for future implications individuals would like to see. III. HPV types 16 and 18 can ‘cause cervical, penile, and anal cancers’; whereas non cancer causing ‘HPV types 6 and 11 can cause genital warts. Some of the risk factors for HPV infections in men include: having multiple sexual partners, smoking and using condoms infrequently’ (Gerend & Barley, 2009, p. 58). However, according to the National Cancer Institute HPV can still be transmitted even when using condoms but ‘condom usage is associated with lower risks for cervical cancer’ (National Cancer Institute, 2010). ‘Genital warts are the most common viral sexually transmitted disease in the UK with 81,000 new diagnoses in 2005, and a 30% increase in the last ten years. HPV types 6 and 11 are also responsible for virtually all cases of recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP)’ (Szarewski, 2009, p. 81).
