During the late 1400s and the mid 1600s, several discoveries were made, many tools for navigating were constructed, and more people started exploring the new world. A few of these people were Columbus, John Cabot, and Erik the Red. Several tools were made to help with navigating and seafaring. Two of the objects were tables describing the placing of the stars and moon and chronometer, which is a sort of clock. Wind systems and currents were also used to help with sailing.
The Portuguese travelled and explored the eastern coasts of Africa and parts of south America. The Spanish explored and settled in Central America. Englishmen fished near Iceland and later ended up near New Found land and Greenland. The Vikings also explored and settled in
