Combat Crime in the area
The message I would like to put into place to combat crime in the area is to:
Organize and/or join a neighbourhood program in which you and your neighbours get together to learn how to protect yourselves, your family, your home and your property. Working together, you can get the criminals off your block and out of your area.
Stay in groups. There's safety in numbers and power through working with a group. You'll get to know your neighbours better, and working with them you can reduce crime, develop a more united community, provide an avenue of communications between police and citizens, establish on-going crime prevention techniques in your neighbourhood, and renew citizen interest in community activity.
Work together with police officers. Your cooperation with them is for the benefit of you, your family, your neighbours and your neighbourhood.
Participate in neighbourhood watch programs. If your local police department puts on a neighbourhood watch meeting, go and participate. It's a great opportunity to learn what criminals are up to in your area and get tips on how to avoid being a target for criminals. You don't have to patrol your neighbourhood; you just have to report what you see. Ask for extra police patrols for holidays. If you are going on vacation, or you've seen a lot of suspicious activity, or there has been a rash of burglaries, or your neighbourhood seems especially empty during a holiday season, there is no harm in calling the police non-emergency number and asking for increased police patrols in your area. Also ask for an extra police patrols during festive seasons
Report illegal activity, you need to report every illegal activity you see. The police can handle it from there. There is no need to try and be a hero. Notice unusual people and behaviour. Notice things that seem out of
