Common Reader Essay The 19th Century in the United States of America was the industrial era. Businesses were spouting up and the work force was growing rapidly all over the land. America was entering a worldwide market that would forever change its global economy. With the widespread growth of transportation such as the railroad system, electricity being used efficiently and the newly refined means of more effective production America was entering a new phase of its economic standing. The global market was just getting off the ground with steel and new ideas spreading world wide. America was beginning to take the global market by storm. In comparison, America was like the modern day China. A majority of items and products were being shipped out of the country and America had just started to storm the global market. The country was at the top of the global market and not only boosting its own economy but gaining a foot in controlling the global economy. America had almost no regulations on entrepreneurial businesses and monopolies began to form and the government knew it had to change. The big major tycoons were growing all to powerful and the work force was running weak. As the government continued to intervene America began to let the global market slip out of its hands. The market began to level out where every country was contributing and a majority of the main powerhouse nations were begging to level out. However even with the power house nations breathing down the nations back the gross domestic product of the United states continued to grow steadily since the 19th century. While America started off weak it boomed into the ranks of the larger nations. Now even today even in what we as Americans call a recession we still hold the highest gross domestic product ranking. However, at the rate that our GDP is climbing it is beginning to level off and even
