Nursing Home Administrator Nursing home administration is a specialized area of medical and health services management. Nursing home administrators work to supervise clinical and administrative affairs of nursing homes and related facilities. Typical duties of nursing home administrators include overseeing staff and personnel, financial matters, medical care, medical supplies, facilities, and other duties as specific positions demand. ("Education Portal", 2003-2014). When you first enter a nursing home facility, this would be the main person you may need to come in contact with any concerns or questions. The administrator is the one whom we would say, “keeps everything running.” But, there would be no other way than to do it than by using communication. Communication, whether interpersonal or intrapersonal, is a crucial part of these dealings and may be transformed by the intellectual use of communication tools. Information is the means of support of healthcare. Therefore, communication systems are the backbone that supports the whole idea. Care of patients in the nursing homes now almost unavoidably entails many different people, all with the need to share patient information and talk about their organization. As a result there is an ever increasing attention in the information and communication technology that sustain health services. There exists a huge gap in the wide understanding of the function of communication services in the delivery health care. This paper will review different types of communication methods for the health care organization, including the advantages and disadvantages of using traditional, electronic, and social media for health care communication. The review will then discuss effects of HIPAA and other regulations on the use of these media for

Effective Communicaion

...Explore the importance of developing effective communication skills in nursing. Communication is the base for everything done in everyday life as well as in professional practice. What and how something is said will send a number of messages to the receiver; these messages are sent and received both knowingly and unknowingly (Sully and Dallas, 2005). Nurses evidently deal more with patients than any other health care worker (McCabe and Timmins 2006), therefore it is very important that effective communication skills are developed, as they will be supporting the patients, the relatives and then communicating back to other health care workers. This essay will be looking at the importance of developing effective non verbal communication skills, the effect different levels of communication has on patients, and adapting communication skills where barriers exist. Communication is both verbal and non verbal, Verbal communication is often seen as the most important form of communication (McCabe and Timmins, 2006). However when people are communicating, words make up only seven percent of the message. The other ninety three percent is made up by how the message is said, the tone of the message and body language (Argyle, 1989 cited by McCabe and Timmins, 2006). So from looking at the information Argyle presents, it is clear to see that non verbal communication has much more of an impact than verbal communication. Although what is said will still have to have meaning and be appropriate...

Anti Corruption Law

...Company Law Cons Even though the Hong Kong Bribery Law acts effectively in anti-corruption compared to the mainland bribery law, there are still some loopholes, especially when compared to the UK Bribery Act and the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Similar to the effectives of the Bribery Law, the defects of the HK bribery law also covers equality, enforceability, recourse efficiency and law as a reflection of community standards and expectation four aspects, and each will be discussed with relevant cases. 1. Equality 2.1 Foreign bribes With the prevalence of overseas corruption, most of the countries have set specific regulation against foreign bribes. For example, both the UK Bribery Act and the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) make it an offence to bribe foreign officials. Under the Bribery Act a “foreign public official “ is defined more narrowly than under the FCPA but sill includes (1) anyone who holds a foreign legislative or judicial position; (2) individuals who exercise a public function for a foreign country, territory, public agency or public enterprise o; or (3) any official or agent of a public organization. On the other hand, the Hong Kong Bribery Law does not specifically cover the foreign bribes, which results in the controversial judgment on the case HKSAR v. Krieger . In this case, the defendants, the officers of a Hong Kong subsidiary of the Swire Group of Companies were accused of conspiring with a Macau businessman to offer...

Artificial Intelligence Fact or Fiction

...Artificial Intelligence: Fact or Fiction Virginia Vidaurri INF 103 Computer Literacy Instructor: Jeanette Cobabe December 3, 2012 Artificial Intelligence: Fact or Fiction What is Artificial Intelligence? The term Artificial Intelligence came into being in 1956, when it was proposed by John McCarthy (Bowles, 2010). This refers to the ability to “create a computer that could perform logical operations so well that it could actually learn and become sentient or conscious.” (Bowles, 2010). Our text defines intelligence as “the capacity for learning, reasoning, understanding, and similar forms of mental activity.” (Bowles, 2010). The problem with this definition is it’s not so clear cut when it is referring to machines (Bowles, 2010). The ultimate goal with Artificial Intelligence is to create a machine that can actually think, as a person thinks, but I’m not sure this goal is capable of being fully realized. In 1937, Alan Turing, a mathematician, developed what he called a Turing Machine, which was supposed to be an intelligent machine (Bowes, 2010). Then in 1950, using this machine, Turing proposed the Turing Test, which he thought “could prove whether or not a computer was intelligent” (Bowles, 2010). In this experiment, there was a judge who would communicate with a person and a computer, each hidden behind a different curtain. If the judge couldn’t tell the difference between the computer and the “real person”, then the computer would be considered...

Ecommerce, the online shopping system has brought down political and physical barriers giving everyone in the world an equal playing ground for their market, everyone can put their products on sale through the e-stores (website dedicated to selling of product, a virtual store). Online shopping has ushered in a new era in the lives of young college- and office-goers. They end up buying all their necessary and not-so necessary items from online sites.
