Comprehensive Leadership Paper
The Ethical Leadership class has presented many theories, studies, and thought provoking cases involving management and leadership. The students were asked to look at themselves and evaluate what kind of leader they are and what kind they could be. The class used some tools to determine personality types and values. Many students found that the results were exactly as they would have thought. They used these results to evaluate their readiness to be a manager who is also a leader.
This comprehensive paper will discuss many of the issues that were brought to light. I will assess personal leadership. Power, motives, influence and values are some key components that make up a leader’s character. Leadership application will also be discussed. I learned there is a place for holiness, justice and love in the workplace. Also learned was that a principle centered leader can make a huge impact on employees. The author will also reflect and assess what has been learned about leadership through taking this class and doing the activities, exercises and projects.
Leader Interview I interviewed an executive from Gorman-Rupp, Scott King. This man has recently been promoted to the Vice President and General Manager of the Mansfield division. He has been with the company nine years and this is his fourth promotion. He is 40 years old. He responded to the questions presented via email.
He believes that leadership develops with experience. That there are both good and bad examples that are learned from watching others and being led by others.
