To some people Lennie and George’s futures might seem grim, but throughout the book, they become resilient and they refuse to give up on what they believe. No matter what happened to Lennie and George, they allways remain posative and focused in their hopes and dreams. Kind of like seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, it’s like this for Lennie and George because it helps then survive and push in through life, even if their dreams and hops can never become a reality. Lennie has a very distant conscious and doesn’t allways understand what George says to him. Sometimes throughout the book, I think Steinbeck wanted to make it clear that the individuals like Lenny and George who lose the way to hope and dream, some othe lennies and George’s “humanity” goes with it.…show more content… When George talked about their dreams, Lennie allways understood because he would always say, “ Tell me bout the rabbits George.” Personally for Lennie wants to one day tend to the rabbits and other animals and to love off the land. When the book begins, George and Lennie are walking together on their way to the ranch and George discovers Lennie carrying a dead mouse in his pocket and tells him to get rid of it, Lennie becomes sad because he doesn’t want to leave his pet behind, but like all the other times when Lennie is upset, George remind all him that one day he will have so many different types of animals that he can be with and pet. This reminder to alennie keeps Lennie somehwhat “focused”.
