...The plot of the story begins with the main character’s arrival near the Island where he gets a bad feeling about being there. Rainsford then falls out of the ship and arrives on the shore of Ship-trap island. He then meets Zaroff, who is a hunter and reins over the entire island. Zaroff believes hunting is as innocent as playing a sport, but the one thing about him is that he hunts humans. Rainsford fights for his life for three days by mimcking the ways of a hunted animal. The story ends by Rainsford being able to kill Zaroff. The author set the setting of the story to reflect the plot. If the plot was in any other setting it wouldn’t be the same. In the story by Thomas Wolfe this isnt as true. The setting of the story is decribed as “It was about 4 o’clock in the afternoon, late October, and there was a smell of smoke, of leaves, of burning in the air.” Though this does give a little detail of the setting, it does not paint a vivid image for the reader.
