Tang and Pickard examined the perceived awareness of services related to the anticipation for aging-in-place and the anticipation of relocation, and whether this awareness was related to the predicted age for staying at home and for relocation. The results found if older adults were not aware of long term care facilities and services available in their community, that lack of awareness was a major barrier to access services and prevented future use of and reliance on community services to remain aging in place or in the community.
