This summer I read the books Ender’s Game and From Baghdad with Love. The book Ender’s Game is about a six year old kid named Ender Wiggin. In this book Ender is called upon by the army to start training in Battle School. In Battle School Ender has to overcome his age and how he is being treated. Ender embarks on this journey so he could eventually save the human species from an alien attack. The book From Baghdad with Love is about a Lieutenant Colonel named Jay Kopelman. At the beginning of the book Jay Kopelman and his squad find a stray puppy in a abandoned house. They adopt this puppy and name it Lava even though it contradicts the Army’s rules to adopt or keep a puppy. On Jay Kopelman's Journey to get Lava home he faces many obstacles…show more content… One example of this is when they need to bring Lava to the airport to get him back to the United States. When they were driving to the airport they had to go through two borders. They had to hide Lava in the backseat while they were in line and crossing the borders because if he was found he would be killed. The lines stretched on for miles too and took a couple days to cross. While they were in line they were worried about roadside bombs and suicide bombers that could blow them to pieces. Luckily they made it across the borders alive. One reason that crossing the border is so difficult is that the borders are highly guarded. This leads to Lava possibly being found and killed. If Lava were to be found and killed at one of the borders Jay Kopelman would have failed his job and got Lava killed. The second reason why it is so hard to cross the borders is because crossing borders takes a very long time and time is precious in their situation. If Jay Kopelman runs out of time Lava is going to be left behind. This is because Lava still might not have some health certificates that he needs to go to America. The final reason that the borders are so hard to cross is that the borders and highways are targeted by suicide bombers and roadside bombs. If one of the bombs hit…show more content… Ender later through him against a wall breaking his arm. The teachers usually would have sent the kid back to Earth but because they saw his potential they let him stay. After this Ender was isolated and rejected and no one really liked him because they were jealous of his potential, how smart he was, and how much the teachers liked him. The first reason that his age was a challenge was that he was bullied because of how young he was for a while. If Ender had not done anything about the bullies Ender would have been sent home because of injuries, weakness, or because he wanted to quit. The second reason that his age was a challenge is that he was isolated for a while. Isolation was a challenge to get over because if he would have stayed isolated no one would listen to him once he became a leader. If no one listened to him when he was a leader then he would have been demoted and probably kicked out of Battle School for not being useful. The final reason that his age is a challenge is that it caused him to be rejected for a while. At the beginning of Battle School Ender was rejected and had no friends to support him. If Ender had stayed without support and friends in Battle school he would have probably quit because he missed people liking him. If Ender didn’t overcome bullies, isolation, and rejection he would have quit and the whole human species would
