In the story “Examination Day” and “Harrison Bergeron” the common theme between the two is when the goal of everyone being equal whether it’s by strength or intelligence it just creates more problems. On “Examination Day” Dickie takes the government test because “The government wants to see how smart you are”(Slesar 18). In reality they want you to be dumb so you can be equal to everyone else and they end up killing Dickie because his “intelligence quotient is above the government regulation”(Slesar 58). This shows that the government wants to make everyone equal but when the children do too well they die, which can and will make families super sad and mad at the government which will create problems.
