In both plays the person being pestered at first stays calm. Kistunov listens to the women as she keeps ranting on and on about her husband's illness. The father in the poem listens to his son and answers his questions. After more and more pestering from both sides the person being pestered starts to get annoyed. Kistunov starts screaming to the woman who just won’t leave. The father is yelling at his son who won’t stop offending and pestering him at the same time.
