Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer’s film “Meet the Spartans,” is a parody imitation of the well-known film “300,” by Zach Snyder. The plot of the film “Meet the Spartans,” is a caricature representation of “300” and is revolved around Xerxes’s plans to invade the Greek city-state of Sparta with his army numbering up to millions, and threating the people of Sparta with not only slavery, but also death in order to try and extend his empire. Furthermore, Friedberg, as well as Seltzer depict a film in a sense of Leonidas and his out-of-shape soldiers against the mighty Xerxes and his Persian Empire. Leonidas is trained as a young child to become a Spartan king and leader. Untimely, leading up to the defeat of Xerxes quite similar to “300.” …show more content…

“Meet the Spartan” makes fun of “300” is the sense of how the film translates the story into a mindless spoof. It is riddled with humor, grossed-out bodily functions, offensive jokes, and swearing and violence. However, it exemplifies myth-dismantling by representing popular pop culture references. For instance, towards the beginning of the “300,” it opens with a scene describing what it means to be a Spartan and how Spartans are made. It shows Leonidas as a young boy in the wilderness all alone in battle with nothing but a spear, against a deadly, wolf-like creature.

On the other hand, when it comes to “Meet the Spartans,” it shows a similar scene. It also shows a young boy in the wilderness also. However, rather than a deadly wolf-like creature, the young boy is faced against a penguin. To build up this, the penguin, instead of attacking the young boy like the wolf-like creature did in “300,” it starts tapping its feet and dancing in reference to another film known as “Happy
