The death of a loved one is a terrible tragedy that can alter people’s character and interactions with others. Holden Caulfield, from J.D. Salinger’s Catcher in the Rye and Piscine Molitor Patel, from Yann Martel’s Life of Pi, are examples of people who experience the death of a loved one and have to cope with the trauma.
