When Jamestown was established in 1607, the colonists that settled there endured many hardships. When they first arrived, there was a drought, and that contaminated there water with salt, causing salt poisoning. Along with the poisoning, the drought along with the high humidity caused more colonists to die from dehydration and exhaustion.
