Lois Lowry was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on the 20th of March, 1937. She is a successful author with many rewards and is known to be responsible for books such as « The Giver » and « Number the Stars ». As a child Lois loved to write; at age 8 to 9 she knew that she wanted to become a writer. After graduating from a New York High School, she attended college two years at at the Brown University before eventually dropping out. Thus she chose to finish college and earned a degree at University of Southern Maine. When only aged 19, she married officer Donald Lowry and had 4 children.
