Tone is the author's attitude toward a subject, or deciding the way you like it by the way it makes you feel. In the stories “monkey’s paw, and “there will be soft rains”, it shows a lot of explains, and parts of tone.
In the story “there will be soft rains”, the tone is very confusing , but it mainly shows a depressing, that makes the reader feel as if powerless in the realization that human self destruction is inevitable. on page 219 it says, “ten O'clock the house begins to die, the room was ablaze in an instant!”, that which makes you feel tremulous. The feeling as you are reading that line makes you feel fearful about the house, and how everything happens so fast. Also like on page 218 it says, “there will come soft rains and the smell
