The more we understand people the easier it is to communicate with them. Some people talk with a flat voice, have no emotions and always wear an expressionless face. There are others who are very dramatic, use emotions to express their feelings and also use words with a tone which expresses their inner thoughts. Mostly when you confront, offend or go against their wishes, they are likely to scream, run, cry, gasp or laugh without a genuine reason. Reactivity is therefore the way a child or an adult reacts at certain situations. The opposite of being reactive is being stoic, unemotional or intellectual. This makes her seem to be doing it intentionally which Edgar feels is unjust. He therefore sees as if Catherine uses her intelligence to her advantage, to win in making her intentions
