Have you ever had to decide which of your sibling is telling the truth? In The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy are staying at the professor's house while World War II is happening. The youngest, Lucy, discovers a magical wardrobe in the spare room that leads her into a second world called Narnia. Returning back to the real world, none of her older siblings believe that she actually went to Narnia, including Edmund who later follows Lucy into the wardrobe and then lies about it to his two older siblings. Concerned for Lucy, Peter and Susan talk to the professor about it and they walk out more confused than ever. Lucy is younger, happier, and wiser than Edmund. Lucy comes back the second time from Narnia with Edmund. She tells Peter and Susan that she saw Edmund there, but Edmund denies it and says that he just played along with her imagination. Peter and Susan are worried for Lucy, so they go and speak with the professor. He asks them,“For instance - if you will excuse me for asking the question - does your experience lead you to regard your brother or your sister as the more reliable? I mean, which is the more truthful?” Asking this question reminds Peter and Susan the hidden truth. Liars anywhere is a threat to honesty everywhere. Both agree that Lucy is the more truthful one, but still think there is something mentally wrong with her. The Professor then says, “There are only three possibilities. Either your sister is telling lies, or she is mad, or she is telling the truth. You know she doesn’t tell lies and it is obvious that she is not mad. For the moment then and unless any further evidence turns up, we must assume that she is telling the truth.” They are shocked after this because Narnia does not seem realistic to them, but the Professor is now telling them that Lucy is right. He says her evidence is right, including the time difference. After having this talk, they do realize that the Professor does make good points, so he is wiser than all of
