...computers, there are so many different options to the way someone can evaluate one. Whether it be how much does a computer costs, what makes it cost that much or why are they priced the way they are? Security too, is a big asset that should be overlooked; especially because confidential information can be obtained very easily without anyone even knowing. Or maybe the hardware that is inside a computer. Many people are not tech savvy, so they don’t know any better. Comparing an Apple Macintosh that runs OS X and a Microsoft PC that runs Windows are usually what is accomplished at an electronic store, for example, Best Buy. All these thoughts have to be questioned and answered before a valid decision should be made about which computer is the superior one. Windows or Macintosh OS X? You choose Living in this age where technology makes the world go round; things can get confusing when you can’t keep up to date with all the changes. The present is moving at a faster pace than ever before with all the gadgets we have now. When you’re looking to buy a computer, because let’s be honest, the majority of the people in this world have one; do you know what you’re looking for? Do you go for the expensive, flashy Macintosh with OS X operating system? Or the cheaper, yet user friendly Windows PC? ...You can either use Mac OS on a Macintosh, or you can also install Windows OS on it. Mac OS and Windows are the two most popular operating systems for computers known to beings. The rivalry among the two is much older than you can imagine. It all began when Apple released Macintosh in 1984, and Bill Gates released Windows in the following year. This is when the computer generation was born and door to technology opened. Since then, we are bombarded with information comparing one operating system to another. Frankly, these two operating systems have much more in common than they do in difference. Each has its own set of pros and cons, but they share many of the core features that define a computer operating system in a modern era. If I were to pick one operating system between the two, I would be better served out by having the similarities pointed out first rather than the differences. Let’s take a moment to move past this vs. that way of thinking and look into what is similar between the two operating systems. Like, both operating systems have a robust set of integrated drivers that enable a wide range of external accessories to work flawlessly out of the box. Installing software or applications on any of them isn’t a problem now, because now usually they are made for both operating systems. The elements of the user interface are mostly common too, only the placement of them differs. E.g. the title bar buttons are on the left in a Mac, while they are on the right...

Windows normally does a good job at making people identifying a different hardware. | * Reliability- Apple controls production from the beginning to the end the parts of a Mac is made to function together. * Security - Mac OS is a two-layered system: the GUI sits on top a UNIX core, and UNIX is known for its safety features. It's very difficult to connect a virus without the user who allows it. * Stability – mac is steadier and more constant then than Windows because of Apple’s control over the formation options as well as UNIX base. * Price – people don’t spend...

...Premise Linux was created as a variation of UNIX by Linux Torvalds in 1991. He created it as open source with a GNU (GPL) General Public License and a lot of coders began downloading the source code and creating their own programs with it. They created patches and fixes for bugs to improve the Linux OS use experience. Security Advantages and Disadvantages Linux and Windows Server share logical security mechanisms that work similar in principle. Both are advantages in their own right using different techniques to secure a network. The importance of network security and how users have access to a network can be maintained not only through best practices but, a strict policy as well. Linux and Windows Server use security mechanisms directly manipulated by the OS, called account privileges. The key advantage with this mechanism is how it assigns a user account privilege to folders and files within the operating system. Linux users are not assigned “root “privilege as default instead the user is assigned an account with low-level privilege. Setting read, write, and execute permissions for owner, group, and other users to give them access control to specific files and folders is usually controlled through the Command Line Interface (CLI) yet some distributions of Linux may also have a Graphical User Interface (GUI) that allows an administrator to change permissions. Windows Server is similar in the way is too assigns account privileges to users. The client/server architecture...

...to accommodate any need that you may have, whether it's for business use or just gaming. Based on the information researched on the operating systems, technical specifications, reliability, and user options PC vs. MAC I will have made my verdict on which is ranked number 1. PC Versus MAC Over the last decade, many computer users have argued that PC is better than MAC and MAC is better than PC. Although it is difficult to prove, there are a facts about both that may have their users in the emotional state about who's better. This very debate has ruined friendships, business and inspired some controversial yet creative advertisement, but with all of the debates not many users understand the difference between them. With assistance from a few sources I will share why this debate has yet to be solved. The difference between the Operating Systems The operating system is what significantly separates the two, Windows versus OS X Mavericks. "OS X is the operating system that powers every Mac. Built on a rock-solid UNIX foundation, it’s engineered to take full advantage of what the hardware is capable of. It’s designed to be as easy to use as it is beautiful to look at. It comes with an amazing collection of apps you’ll use — and love — every day. And it enables your Mac and iOS devices to work wonderfully together (OS X)." "Window's is a graphical...

... This report is a critical comparison of the computer operating systems (OS), Windows and Linux. It is written for an average audience that uses a computer almost everyday and is now curious to know which operating system is better. The audience is assumed to have sufficient knowledge to understand the various aspects of an OS, but is not aware of the specific details of each OS. This report analyzes the different features of both operating systems in order to arrive at a conclusion on which OS is better for daily use. Both systems are evaluated on a wide range of criteria such as cost, installation process, software applications, hardware, user interface, security/stability, troubleshooting, and the implementation of the OS itself. These will help decide which of the two systems is better to use on a daily basis. Before I begin the comparison the reader needs to know that Windows is created, maintained, and updated by Microsoft. No one from outside can access the underlying code. However, Linux is created and updated by volunteers all over the world, which is why there are so many different variations of Linux like Red Hat, SuSE, MandrakeSoft and a few more. The important features of the operating systems are discussed below. COST The Windows operating system is significantly more expensive than the Linux operating system. In fact, the Linux OS can even be obtained for no cost through many websites. Also, only one copy of Windows can be installed...

...be reviewing and comparing are the IPad Air from Apple, the Galaxy Tab S from Samsung and the Surface Pro 3 Windows Tab from Microsoft. These three tablets are some of the best in their class. I chose these three since they run on three different operating systems. The IPad Air runs on the iOS 7.1.1. The Galaxy tab runs on the Android 4.4 KitKat OS. And the Surface Pro3 on the Microsoft Windows 8.1 OS. AS far as which is better, that really is a matter of preference to the user. Depending on what the tablet will be used for will really matter on what system is right for you. I use my tablet for internet use, mobile entertainment and as a better option for a laptop while traveling. I need my tablet to be light, easy to use and capable of doing basic document creation. Cost is a big factor. I already own a couple laptops so this tablet is really a luxury item for me. I use it as a convenient alternative to a laptop while traveling. The Surface Pro 3 is a bit too large and bulky and while ideal for document creation it lacks in the app availability of the other two tablets. While I like the keyboard that the Surface pro offers, it is an additional $130 dollars. It is already almost three times the price of the other two tablets. The Surface Pro simply out prices itself for what I would need it for. I find that the two that are the closest to my needs are the IPad Air and the Samsung Galaxy tab due to the ideal size, familiarity with the OS, the ideal price...

...INTRODUCTION May 2006 marked a special moment in computer history. Apple introduced the MacBook: the first consumer Apple laptop that runs on an Intel chip. This is significant because Windows users now can truly compare Windows-based laptops to the MacBook family. The speed of the MacBook is on pace with the speed of PC laptops. Windows users have less and less reasons to remain Windows users. Running parallel to the increasing reasons to consider Mac over Windows is the fact that our world has evolved from a desktop world to a laptop world. Laptops are so fast and well-equipped nowadays that they serve the needs of not only consumer users, but also professional users such as graphic designers and high-end Photoshop users. There's now only two groups of users that should even consider buying desktops:1. mega-power users. This includes hardcore gamers, 3d animation users and professional video editors. These guys need the fastest machines available to make their processor-hogging routines running faster and faster.2. super-budget users. You can get a nice desktop for $500 nowadays. nice laptops go for about $1000+.That leaves the rest of us. And that's a large group. Laptops offer a freedom that no desktop (or even an iMac) can offer: Portability. Use the laptop on the couch while watching TV. Use it at your desk to get serious work done. Use it on the deck to enjoy the spring weather. Use it at the coffee shop or library to simply look cool. Plus, they save a ton of space. Laptops...
