In Jurassic Park and “A White Heron” they show the theme of man and nature. Man and nature were big parts in theses pieces of work. Jurassic Park man, Dr. John Hammond, went against nature but recreating dinosaurs. According to the film, one of the scenes a baby dinosaur hatches but Mr. Ian Malcolm, a mathematician, questions and states how is this park going to survive because these creatures already had their time on earth but now they have to adjust to the new world. While the animals have to adjust Dr. Hammond believes that his creations should live properly even with all the new evolutions and the natural world not agreeing (Crichton). In “A White Heron,” it also shows this theme. The short story, has Sylvia teaming up with the natural world rather than going against it. “A White Heron” the white heron shows beauty and its rarity. When Sylvia spots it she watches with awe and could not believe her eyes. In the story, “the white heron's nest in the sea of green branches, and was this wonderful sight and pageant of the world . . . the green marsh is set among the shining birches and dark hemlocks; there where you saw the white heron once you will see him again” (Jewett). Sylvia was surprised to see the white heron again and in the same place. In Jurassic Park its representation of beauty and rarity are the dinosaurs because they are supposed to be extinct but Dr. Hammond found a way to bring them back to life. Two scenes in the movie show the park itself and the laboratory where the new eggs of dinosaurs are born (Crichton). When the paleontologist see the dinosaurs they find them beautiful and amazing how Dr. Hammond has created a world just for those creatures. Both pieces of work show beauty and how the rarest creatures are the most beautiful. A person could describe anything as beautiful, it is whatever they think represents
