Career Plan Building Activity: Competencies and Career Interests Profiler
My Results I had five bars in innovating, which, four bars for strategizing, adapting to change, and cooperating. I had three bars each in researching and coping with pressure. There was no surprise for most of the results except for the researching one, I love to do research and ask questions. The five bars for innovating I think come from the fact that I hate doing things the way they “have always been done”. Dad always said, “If you want to find the quickest and most efficient way to get something done, find a lazy person or someone who already has plans to do it”( J.W. Stacey, personal communication). They will find the easiest, quickest way of achieving it. I also like to do things my way, so I will adjust things to my way.

Understanding My Own Personal Competencies Understand my own competencies will help me choose a not only a career but where I might want to go to pursue said career and the type of work place environment I will need to seek out to be at my best. Knowing my own strengths will help me to decide what areas about the way I think and do things that I need to focus on and improve such as one of my least barred results, which were coping with stress. I can also use this information to even better improve where I am already with innovating, hence not only improving the lower scored items but emphasizing the strengths I already have. According to the Work Life Group web site “It is not enough just to identify your strengths, you also have to maximise your strengths. Rather than spending a lot of effort on reinventing yourself, you can optimise your job search by improving your strengths” (n.d.).

Competencies and Career Interests Profiler

...Competencies and Career Interests Profiler Understanding your personal competencies can help improve your critical thinking skills in a number of ways. By understanding what your abilities are you are able to utilize your critical thinking skills. For example, some companies expect their employees to reach a certain level of competency at the end of their training. This is because developing or capitalizing on your core competencies entails learning and thoroughly understanding the job at hand. Based on my career aptitude test, my results show that scheduling; material recording and law would be a good fit for me. I am an efficient communicator, detail oriented and I take the time to research what I am doing. Because of these inclinations/competencies, I can have a more profound understanding of what I am doing in contrast to someone who may not be good at these things. It is said that capitalizing your strengths is more important than working on your weaknesses. Knowing your competencies can help you evaluate arguments through understanding every aspect of what you are doing. By utilizing your competencies and understanding the details of your task you are then able to overcome any objection and validate your argument. For example, lawyers know that they are efficient communicators and they use this competency to validate their argument in the courtroom. They research the case, ask questions, and interpret the law to help the jury reach a verdict. Knowing your strengths...

Competencies and Career Interest Profiler

...Competencies and Career Interest Profiler Completing the competencies for this assignment I learned that my top three competencies are adapting to change, cooperating, and adhering to values. My two lowest competencies were strategizing and organizing. Knowing theses personal competencies is important to the way that I can improve my critical thinking skills because it gives me a base outline of the areas that I should be attentive to. For example, one of my strengths is adapting to change. I feel that it is important for people to remain open minded when looking at a subject critically. Many arguments can be made for something that are good valid agreements, but if someone is close-minded then there would be a lot at loss for both sides of the argument. My second strength was cooperating. Being able to cooperate in a group is important. Respecting the views of others allows there to be a foundation on which each member will be able to speak freely of their views. Even though there are members of the team that may disagree with other’s opinion, it is important to respect their own opinions. This will help lead the team to more powerful debate when both sides are able to speak feely of the views and opinions. Looking at the lowest compentcies ratings, strategizing was one that surprised me the most and definitely one that I feel is very important when improving critical thinking skills. When setting up an argument, there must be a strategy. Taking resources, data, and facts...

Career matches would be something in an artistic, media, or social scene, where being persuasive, strategizing, and adhere to values will benefit having to recognize one of the most common mistakes, which is the reasoning. Believing in the person making the claim or believing the actual claim. There is some detective work involved, if there is a party of interest that will make a profit by spreading inconsistent information, it can involve risk taking but doing the research and finding a reliable source will make better critical decisions. Career competencies can help evaluate arguments by applying expertise theoretically and practical to distinguish from someone that is exaggerating the truth and trying to persuade them to accept they claim they are making without any relevant facts. Taking initiative and being responsible for one’s own actions, making clear and quick decision, doing the research to find the facts and not taking another’s word for it. Compentanties

...Competencies and Career Interests Profile COM/503 JULY 1, 2013 Patrick Thorton Competencies and Career Interest Profiler     The results from the Career interest profiler said a lot about me that I did not realize. Often times I think about my strengths and weakness. Understanding our competencies will help you to go in the right direction of your career. When understanding your competencies you can identify your strengths and weaknesses.       The results from the competencies and career profiler were almost correct on where I am at in my career. While some of the competencies have told me that I did not know of myself. Lawyer, Judge was at the top of the list. This information was interesting as I have never thought about a career in legal, but I have thought about investigative work earlier in my career, but did not pursed it.       The results of the competencies activity gave me a score 3 out of 5 in each categories of Adhering to Values, Cooperating, following instructions, strategizing, coping with pressure and Goal focus. Which I am not sure why I scored 3 out of 5 for following instruction, adhering to values and cooperating. Those three categories I hold to great standard, but I will take that score because maybe I did not understand something. Understanding your competencies can help in becoming an effective communicator with group/ team members. After getting the results it helps me to see clearly on what I need to improve in to have a successful career. This...

...Career Plan Building Activity and Competencies and Career Interest Profilers Crystal A. Naquin University of Phoenix BCOM 275 November 6, 2013 Virginia Carter Looking over the completed career interests’ profiler and competencies assessments, it helped me gain a better understanding of my competencies and how I apply them to a business setting. With the career interests’ profiler, it very much already told me what I already knew but more of a deeper understanding. What I do appreciate after taking completing the career interests’ profiler is providing me with a list of the different careers that would be best suited. Completing the competencies assessment, has helped me analyze my results such as adapting to change, delivering results or innovating and how I can apply them to critical thinking. By understanding my personal competencies, what I can do to improve my skills can be using my results to help look outside the box. One result I found very intriguing was innovating. “To innovate” means to show something as if it was the first time or to alter something and I found that intriguing as one of my results. Applying innovation to critical thinking would mean to think outside the box, change my perception on how I see the problem so that the solution may present itself. Another way in applying my results can be in how I evaluate arguments. For example, adapting to change or coping with pressure are great competencies in which can help me evaluating arguments. With adapting...
