As you grew up have you ever wonder was North and South equal and how was slavery?
Before 1850 there was an equal number of slave and free state. The Compromise of 1850 was introduced into Congress by Henry Clay. The Compromise gave some satisfaction to both North and South. The bill was passed after it was divided into several parts. The compromise included a strict fugitive slave law it required northerns to return escaped slaves to their owner. The Southerners wanted to secede the union because Abraham Lincoln became president, the north had more soldiers, and the book Uncle Tom's Cabin.

Firstly, did you ever think Abraham Lincoln would become president but Abraham Lincoln became president of the United States. In Document 5 its says ¨Abraham lincoln who declared ¨government cannot endure permanently half slave, half free…” is elected president.” This shows that The South wanted to secede the Union because Abraham Lincoln would have made changes that the South wouldn’t approve of.
