...On Thursday November 30, I attended a jazz concert at Ball and Chain located in the famous 8 street in Miami. This was the first time I ever attended a Jazz concert in my life. I arrived at 6:30 p.m. and the band had already started playing, I was informed that whenever they play they start at 6:00 p.m. The atmosphere here was really pleasant, the place had a touch of dim lights which made you feel comfortable. The room wasn’t too crowded, this was another really good detail, because it gave me the opportunity to better appreciate the concert. There was not too much echo in the place because the front door was open. Although, the door remained opened during the concert the sound of the music could really be appreciated it. There were parts that were pretty loud and other soft, soothing parts....

...The concert I decided to go to was an EDM concert by Kshmr w/ Blasterjaxx. The concert took place in NY inside a big open warehouse. With EDM or Electronic Dance Music the whole genera goes around fast tempo using different instruments to build up and then have a loud base drop. There are no real instruments played in a EDM concert. It is just the artist on stage with his laptop. The artist in this case Kshmr uses a synthesizer, sampler, and an electric guitar. To put all this sound together he uses a program like FL studio to actually make the music. There is no real singing in EDM its mostly all instruments. Kshmr is a popular artist and I was very happy to go and see his especially since he was preforming so close. The whole concert was about 5...

...On Wednesday, December 2nd I attended to a very impressive concert presents by my great music professor Sergio Gonzalez and Hialeah Performing Arts Club. Dr. Sergio Gonzalez invited magnificent singers from his MUL 1010 class to make this concert unforgettable with his accompaniment in the piano. The first thing that I liked about this concert was the atmosphere because I saw how the audience enjoyed the music played by my talent professor and the amazing voices of the vocalists. Every artist was welcomed with a warm applause from every single person. Professor Sergio Gonzalez, and also a phenomenal pianist introduced every singer who accompanied him on the stage with words of admiration. This concert was about “Holiday Selections”...

...Concert essay Without possessing the knowledge of what is so called romantic music, we generally refer to it is a kind of music which tends to evoke a soft mood or dreamy atmosphere. However, it is partially true; many musical works in Romantic era produce strong, harsh sounds for agitated emotion. The characteristics of this period’s music are strongly tied to a word, “extreme”; that is, extreme in size, length, pitch, dynamics and tempo in most musical pieces. During this era, the musician has a greater freedom in form and design, and a more intense personal expression of emotion in which fantasy, imagination, and quest for adventure play an important part. Highly accomplished composers such as Frederic Chopin and Eugene Ysaye, had great technical virtuosity in playing piano and violin. Eugene Ysaye’ “Sonata No.2 in A minor, op. 27, no.2” is considered a miniature, a piece that is small in size and short length, consisting only of two movements. The first movement is a little bit vivacious, and the second movement is slower and softer. It is only performed by one performer and one instrument. Because of its short length, smaller size and relative simplicity, this instrumental piece is called a lyric or character piece, which “expresses one emotion or emotional journey.” The lyric or character piece is new genre that appeared in the Romantic period. The two musical elements Ysaye emphasized most are tempo and dynamic range. The violinist in both movements was struggling...

...Assignment 3: Cultural Event Report Blaine Medvec Ray Otto World Cultures I September 7th, 2012 The event I was at was a music concert located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania called Sublime with Rome. My cousin wanted to go see one of his favorite bands called Cypress Hill. Also other bands known as Sublime and Pepper were to be attending the event. The location where it was exactly located is known as Stage AE or Stage American Eagle. Now I have been to many different concerts before but they were usually local bands in an indoor place with about 100-300 people. This one in particular was outdoor and over 5000 people. I went with my cousin, his friend and his girlfriend. Everybody except for me lived in Pittsburgh so they were more aware of what was to be expected than I was. I live about an hour away from Pittsburgh so it took us awhile to meet up with everyone as he came to pick me up. When we finally arrived in Pittsburgh, we were getting a hotel that night so we went there first. Once we checked in we waited for our friends to arrive. After about an hour of waiting, our friends Tom and Caitlin showed up. We then made our way over to the concert. When I arrived at the event I thought it would be a lot of fun. The people gathered around the stage were excited and anticipating the show. I proceeded to get some food and drink before as I knew I would probably be getting no time to leave as it would only get more and more crowded. Once we got our spot in the crowd, we simply...

...Rochelle Emauni Pina Sorrel Hays Survey of World Music 1110 December 5, 2013 Eccentrix Talent Show Review Singing has always been a passion of mine. Since the fourth grade I was a prestigious student in concert choir, taking part in many events throughout grade school. Last Thursday, I was honored to partake in the University of West Georgia’s first official talent show hosted by the Eccentrix organization. Eccentrix is a student-based organization that host’s events such as open mic and free verse nights dedicated to the students at West Georgia. The mission is to promote an environment that is open to any race, religion, or culture where the students are able to perform a variety of talents varying from singing, dancing, playing an instrument, or even a poem of choice. When I heard about the talent show, I didn’t hesitate to say yes and audition. The night of the show I was anxious and couldn’t have been more ready to perform. The opening of the show was a wonderful experience as I sat and watched my peers perform their talents. I watched in amazement and couldn’t wait to go on stage myself. I was the second to last act, and I performed an official piece written by me. The song is called “Change your ways,” which is dedicated to an ex-boyfriend of mine. It was the first time I had ever performed apiece written by me so it was a new experience. When it was my time, I sat on stage, picked up the mic, and gave the best performance of my life. It felt so good...

...saw exited fans even more excited than I have ever been and in that moment I knew that this concert will probably be the best one I have ever been too. If I could explain this night I would say it was a very sweet night, sweet as in candy, but unfortunately it was also bitter like Black coffee and no I am not lying! Ariana Grande appeared on stage with her cat ears which seemed to be changing colors from my which was somewhat far. She opened with one of my all time favorite songs, “Bang, Bang” which the well known Carolyn Menyes from Music Times called this single "Huge successful hit of summer 2014. The Opener...

...i had never been to a musical concert before Friday December 9th, the concert that I attended was interesting and worth seeing. There were both things that I viewed to be positive and negative about this concert. Each song had something different to offer from the feeling of each piece, what I like and disliked about the piece, and my/crowd’s reaction. March was one of the first pieces I heard. This piece was quite peaceful. There was a smooth melody throughout the work. Although the melody was nice and smooth, there were strong notes that would be played throughout the piece. This gave the music a great mix of highs and lows, with strong and smooth notes. This piece was very nice and relaxing. It made me remember the times when I was younger from my childhood and we would sit around the Christmas tree listening to music with my brother and sister or my parents. The crowd reacted quite well to this piece as I also did. There were not any noticeable mistakes, and the two pianos did not seem to clash and create a sound of dissonance. Although this piece was peaceful it was only one of many I listened to....

...On the 28th of March, I decided to attend yet another trio concert at the breathtaking Dr. Bobbie Bailey & Family Performance Center. Arriving on time, I walked in and took my sit immediately as if I was a regular at this point. The daunting and new hall that I entered for the first concert has now become more of a comforting place filled with amazing musicians. Like the last concert at this hall, this concert was compromised of a trio. It was nice to see Charae Krueger (cello) and Robert Henry (piano) appear once more on stage, but there was a new face to be seen. Rather than John Warren walking out, Helen Kim (violin) had taken the stage to finish the trio off. While I waited for the concert to begin, I began to sift through the program and...

...The Christmas concert I went to was amazing. My parents went with me and we sat on the track going around the gym so that we could get a good view of everything. The concert started out with the choir singing Veni, Veni, Emmanuel. Darrell explained that it was actually a chant. It was interesting to hear and I loved that the soloists were able to be heard even with everyone else singing. It seemed to add more depth to the music. There were more songs that they played, some in different languages. One was in Latin and I thought that it was something that was a once in a lifetime opportunity to listen to because I had never been to a concert that anyone sang anything in Latin. It was amazing. Later on there were two soloists that came out and sang two songs together. I thought that they were very brave and they sang very well. The band played next. They were spectacular. They played with such passion. The moment I heard them play Sleigh Ride, I thought about all the times that I rode a sled down my hil at mu home when I was little. There was one point where the little girls sitting in front of us got up and started dancing. They were Darrell's daughters. One of them started twirling and laughing, then grabbed her sisters hand and pulled her off to the side to dance with her. My parents started to chuckle...

...Fancy Pants English 1010 Observation paper 02-23-2012 The Concert High The vast amount of cars surrounding Emma, are all crammed bumper to bumper. The cars are leisurely rolling for the next few blocks waiting to reach the same destination. Anxiety rushes over her as the starting time for the event approaches. Emma and her friends decide to find a place to park the mustang and get out and walk. As they walk vigorously past all the slow moving cars, they feel the heat from the sun kissing their backs. The stench of cigarette smoke fills the air. The sound of multiple car horns are beeping. They have one more small hill to climb before they arrive at the concert. After being searched, Emma and her friends make it through the security gates and hand their tickets to the usher. Emma hears country music playing and she can see people drinking beer and fooling around. They make their way to the sitting area and spread their pink and white poka dot designed blanket out on the cold, wet grass. Emma and her friends decide to visit the concession stand to get some buttery popcorn and an ice cold, bubbly Dr. Pepper that smells like cherry carbonation. As Emma waits for the opening act to come on stage, she and her friends stretch out on the blanket and let the cool breeze flow through their hair. They start singing along with the songs beating from the speakers. They get the urge to dance as they start with just the tapping of their cowboy boots on the grass; it then turns into...

...Feelings about the concert We have just finished attending our third concert in Fenway Center last Thursday. It’s an amazing concert, and all of us should give a performance in this concert. Since I came to America, I have attended three concerts, and I feel that this is the best concert I have attended. Comparing with those two concerts I have attended before, I have more feelings about this concert; and I want to share my feelings with you. In this concert, each of us gave our performances as a unit of class, and our class was the first performer in this concert. We gave four shows: two chorus and two team-sings. The names of our songs were: “We Are the World”, “We are Young”, “Mama Tried”, and “21 Guns”. “We are the World” and “21 Guns” were song by our whole class, “We are Young” and “Mama Tried” were song by Nigerians. In this concert, we used many things that we learned in the class, such as for the song, “We are the World”, we used “call and response” at the end of the song. Actually, when we were practicing these songs, the effect wasn’t very good; we even couldn’t decide what songs to perform. However, when we sang in the concert, the effect was excellent, everyone sang well, and the react of the audiences was good, too. Before I sang, I felt nervous and I was afraid of forgetting the lyrics, however, when I saw the react of the audience, I felt very happy and relaxed. The first performance went on well; other performances were also very amazing. There were many great...

...Last Tuesday I attended the Big Band Concert in the Marshall Arts Center. Both the Weber Music Hall and the Marshal Arts Center have very different atmospheres. Unlike the small band, the big band songs seemed to be a lot shorter and were instructed by a conductor. For the first couple songs, there were big basses, drums, a piano, a marimba, saxophones, an electric guitar, trumpets and trombones. The first song was upbeat and had very loud, accented parts. All the instruments played while the symbols stood out the most. One of the trumpet players had a really good solo. One of the next songs was very country club like. It was a lot slower and had a romantic vibe that would be good for dancing. The marimba was not used for this song and the...
